Mixed Media

I am currently on holiday in Australia
and am trying to catch up with anything I can do on my laptop at odd times...

I realised I hadn't blogged this August page of my mixed media calendar - so before it is September here we are:

I started this calendar in January  - you may have seen each month's 'page'...but these are the details of the back plate if you haven't...

I started with a piece of plywood 'burned' with electricity
as detailed here in my blog in November.
I painted around the edge with black gesso.

I added square cards using rings at the top.
These cards will flip over for successive months.
I added a calendar pad at the bottom on layers

of red card and DP from Graphic 45 An Eerie Tale.

August's card features this delightful frog
that I obtained from Scrappers Delights Facebook group
but it is also available here Ta Da Frog

The background is part of a photo I took of the allotment pond, printed on some card and trimmed to size. I just used scraps of red and yellow card to mat and layer and the Inkadinkado August stamp.

Now I have to start thinking about September!!

Wicked Wednesday #224

The new Wicked Wednesday Challenge has the theme Summer Camp.
What to do?
Well I thought this Song Title might be appropriate...

A scrap of maroon card followed by a snippet of canvas paper splashed with distress ink - then a few embellishments all found in my stash... and the title printed on the computer...

I will link this to Wicked Wednesday #224
I also haven't been over to Pixie's Crafty Playground for ages so will link this there too

Ike's world Challenges #70

Today I would like to show you my make for Ike's World Challenges!

The current Challenge (#70) is "Travel/Holidays"...and this is my midway post...

For today's make I have used many of the elements from Ike's The Beach Gnomes Set to make a Pocket Letter - basically 9 ATCs!

I used various papers from ImagineThat Digistamps Beach Combing Papers
as background to the images and coloured them with Promarkers.

I added an assortment of embellishments:

I then placed them in a pocket folder!

LOC Challenge #144

Challenge #142 starts today at LOC  "You've got a friend in me"

Our sponsor is Sheep Ski Designs

and I have used Flump n Tic on an ATC.

First I coloured the image with Promarkers and cut it out.

The base is a scrap of green card matted with some green embossed cobweb paper.
I added a spider embellishment.

My ATC was inspired by the Children's song I used to act out with Preschoolers:
This is the version I used to sing...starting off on my own being an elephant and bringing in one child at a time until there were five...each child joins on and we move round in a circle...

One elephant went out to play
Upon a spider’s web one day.
He had such tremendous fun,
He called for another elephant to come…

Two elephants went out to play
Upon a spider’s web one day.
They had such tremendous fun,
They called for another elephant to come…

Three elephants…

Four elephants…

Five elephants went out to play
Upon a spider’s web one day.
They had such tremendous fun
Until all of a sudden...the web was GONE!

At this point all 'elephants' fall to the floor!

I will link this to Wicked Wednesday 223

Looking forward to seeing your makes in the LOC challenge!

Midway Inspiration for the August Challenge at ITDBK

Here's my next inspiration as a member of the Dynamite Delights DT of

This is a reminder post for the current challenge over at

Signs of Summer

This challenge runs August 6 - September 2

I decided to use Beach Combing Papers

and

You may have seen that I used Beach Floaty Girl on this ATC the other day.

Anyway today's card is a white card base topped with a square of paper from which I had die cut a Sizzix Palm tree.

I then added the image coloured with Promarkers.

Hope to see your make in the challenge!!
