31 Days of Halloween 2026 Day 5

    

During October you will see many Halloween-y projects on my blog.

 This is my 13th year in succession of participating in 31DOH! 

That must be an auspicious number!!

I am joining in with the 2026 Crypt Keepers Countdown to Halloween

This is my Day 5.

Yesterday I shared the start of my Halloween junk journal.

This is my next page. On the October prompt list from Kia.creates, the prompt is Cozy Crafts.

I decided to go with the coziness of a warm drink. The background is from Imagine That Digi Stamps (no longer trading). I added a Witch Mug Shot from Conjurer of Dreams. I added some penwork, washi and the tag from a download called The Gentle Pivot.

This tag is adhered in place but I have several more that will be placed in the pockets throughout the journal.

I usually share a postcard  from Vintage Image Craft. 

"Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn and cauldron bubble." This Shakespeare quote from Macbeth seemed to fit this 1914 Halloween postcard illustration PURRfectly.

And as always I like to add the skeletons hopping!

I am joining in with the 2026 Crypt Keepers Countdown to Halloween

This is my Day 4

Today I am sharing the start of my main project of this October.

6 weeks ago I was in hospital having a hip replacement and at every meal I was given cutlery in paper folders. Of course I kept them all for use in crafting. Initially I made a Poe tag booklet as a make for the Gecko Galz DT. I will share more of this on the 12th. This involved the folders being attached at their openings so that the tags could also go inside as well and they open to be decorated inside.

For my October make, I have glued the folders back to back over hinges, so that they can be decorated along the fronts, but still have openings for tags and so on at the top.

I added a front and back.

 These papers come from crafterschoice Spooky Background Paper Pack.

I am adding Halloween washi tape throughout the junk journal.

I am using these to a certain extent - the cover is 'October begins'.

My first two pages look like this:

The witch picture is a freebie from Conjurer of Dreams -

 I will add this page to the CoD October Free Image Challenge.

I added scraps of ribbon to yesterday's ATCs and placed them in the pockets. The ribbon is to help from losing them in the pockets.

The second side is also an image from Conjurer of Dreams gifted to me as a prize from Kim -

October prompt 'falling leaves'.

I usually share a postcard  from Vintage Image Craft. 

This is a postcard from a beautiful set, published in 1912 by the E. Nash Co., which feature vibrant, lively illustrations bursting with color and energy, each paired with fascinating superstitions. GLORIOUS!!!

And as always I like to add the skeletons hopping!

Tiny Pieces of Art - September

   At the beginning of the year I started a year long challenge courtesy of Linda Pearson on Facebook

I decided to use index cards as I had a little booklet of these in my stash. 

I like this format as I have been doing the Index Card a Day Challenge during June and July for some years now.

Today I have a bunch of ATCs to share:

This first set uses the freebie ATC sheet from 

Conjurer of Dreams October ATC Challenge 

Trick or Treaters.

I fussy cut all the elements and placed the backgrounds on scraps of orange and blue card. I then added all the pieces from the sheet.

The second set of three used the freebie ATC sheet from

Gecko Galz Monthly ATC Challenge

Monsters Under The Bed

Again I used the backgrounds on scraps of orange and blue card and then added the girls in bed images.

Wouldn’t it have been delightful to receive one of those 1920s postcard invitations to a Halloween party? The whimsical scraggly black cat illustrations against the bold orange background are absolutely captivating!
