So one week gone in this second lockdown...
Two desk pictures for WOYWW 580!
Not a lot of difference from last week - you might notice a couple of the cards I have made this week and the wherewithal to make more.
The second area has ATCoins on show and in the making.
I have decided that I stand up for lots of my crafting - this is another surface that I use all the time. In my old craft room in England I had a single IKEA kitchen 'butcher's block - it was ideal for my old guillotine. I brought neither to Australia intending to replace both for less than the shipping. I decided to go for the double version from IKEA this time - it has two useful drawers and space for my Big Shot and replacement guillotine. I just happened upon this guillotine in a second hand shop for a few dollars and it is perfect!
I having been doing a bit more of my quilt - attaching the front to the backing - I can do this whilst watching television:
Ooh - the post just came - and I received two beautiful cards from crafty friends in the UK - just like to share them - they are both in homage to Tim Holtz!!
But before I finish I would just like to add some images of the view across the lawn from our rental property:

Lots of lovely things to look at on your post this morning Susan! I really like the fabric you've made the masks from - which shape do you find the most comfortable? I haven't made one of those shaped masks yet as the pleated version is easier in larger numbers.

I find the shaped one more comfortable but the pleated one is much quicker and easier to make - less wasteful of fabric too...

I don't suppose you've been able to get out and about at all yet between lockdowns to find any potential crafty groups and friends but I do hear of craft being a thriving hobby over there. I have a few IKEA pieces in my craft room as well, although most have been re-purposed and very few actually purpose bought for my craft area! Would love enough space to have all machines out and available, the trolley is a great idea. NR8 6PW

ReplyDeleteI love your butcher's block, Susan - perfect for the big shot and guillotine. I'd love to be able to craft standing up but can't manage it for more than a few minutes unfortunately. I do have to stand when I'm cutting with my Stanley knife in order to get enough pressure and I find the same thing when stamping too. You have a lovely view from your house! ReplyDeleteThe secret to sustained weight loss is whole-food plant-based with absolutely no added oil, just getting the essential fatty acids you need from nuts, seeds, avocado etc. Calorie density is what you need to look at - low calorie density but high nutrient density foods full of fibre fill you up and give you the satiety to avoid overeating. Although exercise obviously has many health benefits, it doesn't play that large a part in weight loss because you have to exercise really hard in order to burn off a small number of calories. Nutrition is the key. With my ME I am unable to do any kind of aerobic exercise and have reduced my weight and kept it there, just by eating correctly. Fish is high in saturated fat and also, with the levels of ocean pollution today, is known to contain significant amounts of toxic heavy metals such as mercury, and PCBs, since most fish are at the top of the food chain and concentrate them in their flesh. The fishing industry is also incredibly cruel, and damaging to the environment.
I hope I shall have the beginnings of some tiny carpets to show you next week! I can't wait to get started on this project!

Love your mask, it doesn't seem to stick to your face. I watched a version that said it was away from your face so I wondered if it would be better for spectacle wearers. I just had to take mine off today at both appointments - steaming up is a problem.

ps how long have you lived in Oz then - I take it you are English?
Yes we are originally from the UK but we have always moved around a bit. In England we have lived in Derbyshire, Yorkshire and Cheshire. In Wales we lived in Pembrokeshire and on Anglesey. We became expats about 20 years ago moving first to Australia - we lived in Melbourne from 98 to 2004. Our 4 kids were all teenagers then and the boys would not leave when we moved on to Hong Kong - our daughter went back to Uni in the UK. We then moved to Abu Dhabi then India then back to England. Finally we came back here in February - our daughter moved back a year ago. We have continued to visit Aus once ortor a year in the meantime to see the boys, their partners and the grandchildren.

That Ikea unit is perfect for your purposes - must check it out here too! Your masks look funky - here in the UK they're just becoming compulsory in shops, so I saw a lot more people wearing them. That's a lovely view to wake up to. Love the facemasks I prefer the unshaped one. I have breathing difficulties but find by having a blast of my inhaler before wearing helps. Ani #6
