I will be sharing today's Halloween make on Leigh's page...Day 1
~~~~~~~
Today I am sharing another page from my Halloween scrapbook. I am going to link this to both 31DOH and the Cat Lovers Hop.
Today is spider day - my inspiration? - I was walking down Sadler Gate in Derby on Tuesday and these spiders took my eye:I have once again made a collage of tags, having first started with a square from a paper in my stash (distressed around the edges with scattered twigs). I used to have a whole packet of this paper, bought when I was living in Mumbai, India about 3 years ago. I thought I had used it all (apart from maybe the odd scrap) - imagine my delight when I found a whole page in my filing cabinet!
This is the first tag:
The technique on this tag is Distress Crayons: Colourful Collage:
(Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry LIVE 2017).
Method:
- Adhere ephemera to tag and allow to dry.
- Scribble Distress Crayons over surface, smudge with fingers.
- Continue adding colours and smudging.
- Place stencil over surface and rub with a damp paper towel to lift colour and reveal design.
- I added the joke alongside (printed on my computer and cut out).
The technique on this second tag is Dabber Resist on Sticky Back Canvas.
Method:
- Stamp a piece of sticky back canvas with dabber paint.
- Set the image with a heat gun.
- Choose a few colours of distress stain and swipe them over the canvas.
- Dry with heat tool.
- With a damp cloth or paper towel wipe the areas of paint to clean off excess distress stain.
- On top of this I added an extra piece of sticky back canvas coloured with distress oxide and a spider stamped with black Archival ink.
The technique on this tag is Crackle Resist and Crackle image.
Method:
- Colour one area of tag with coloured distress crackle ensuring that it has thick and thin areas. Allow to dry.
- Apply a very thick layer of crackle to cut out stamped shape (spider) and allow to dry.
- Stamp tag with Distress Inks and wipe off any extra ink from crackle.
- Stamp again with another image and Archival ink.
- Adhere the spider.
This another make for the Cat Lovers Hop
This is a very old Halloween make of mine - a small fat page that I made to illustrate a verse from a poem.
Can you tell me the poem (and writer) the verse came from?
Happy Day 25 of 31DOH!
Wow! Awesome page!!! The golden paper on the background is too cool!!! I want it! : D
ReplyDeleteFabulous collage of tags too! Great work!!!
You sure have some fun sounding techniques that have yielded fabulous results, Susan! Giggling at your joke and the kitty with the spider on his tail. Our Goliath used to keep our home spider free and caught and ate even the tiniest ones. He was always on the lookout under cabinets and behind doors. It was great source of fun for him. EEEK! to those huge spiders creeping down the house. Inspiration? I'd say nightmare inducing. LOL Your fat page is fab and spooky. Love all of the texture. The excerpt is from the poem "Haunted Houses" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. xxD
ReplyDeleteWhoops forgot to put the email address - thanks for answering the question though - and good luck in the draw!
DeleteThank you for your kind comments!
What wonderful paper and I know you were glad to find it. I'm loving these pages.
ReplyDeleteI really hate spiders, Susan! They just creep me out. But the one dangling from kitty's tail in that Bugaboo image is kinda cute so I'll take a deep breath and say that's a fantastic page and your did a great job on the tags! :-D
ReplyDeleteYou probably won't want to look at my next page then...
DeleteBut thanks for looking and commenting!!
Eeek! I don't mind spiders at all but those huge ones hanging down the front of the building really gave me a start!! As for your wonderful project, that cat with the befuddled expression brought a big smile to my face!
ReplyDeleteThat spider cat of yours is just spooktacular and the page so very fun.
ReplyDeleteAwesome page!
ReplyDeleteFantastic tag page! And great pics - thanks for sharing!
Loving all the details done. Oh you lived in India, did you travel to other SEA which is nearer to India?
ReplyDeleteover the last 20 years we have lived in Australia, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi and India - and visited many places from each... I came back to the UK but my husband then worked in Egypt for a while...
DeleteEEEEEK!!! I hate spiders. I avoided going out my back door for several days when my guys were gone because there was a spider out there!!! HUGE...at least 1/2 inch! lol... Well, it looked huge to me. Hubby took care of it for me when he returned. Those humongous ones in the photo are very creepy!! I do seem to have an understanding with the spiders that live in my garden: they stay hidden and eat the nasties when I am not looking, and I will let them live there. :)
ReplyDeleteYour spider project for the Cat Hop is a little bit creepy for me to look at, but I think it is cute how the kitty has one hanging from his tail. Funny riddle, too. Love all your great techniques! Thank you so much for playing along in the #2019CatLoversHop!!
Great Halloween page, Susan with gorgeous embossed paper. Love the deadpan look on the girls' faces and the joke they are sharing. And, of course, your Bugaboo cat with the spider dangling from his tail is the icing on the cake! xx
ReplyDeleteGreat inspiration for your tag page! Love the fun kitty! I'm always curious about the old photos of people and wonder who they were, what their story is. Am I the only one?
ReplyDeleteThe girls are Tim Holtz ephemera so I have no idea who they were... however my sister and I had hair like that when we were small so I like to think they are us!!
DeleteGreat tags and love the yellow web paper, that’s gorgeous! He’s a funny looking cat - but vey adorable !
ReplyDeleteWhat a creepy cool spider decoration .. I think I like it ... I also love your page and the inspiration you took from seeing this huge spider. I am hoping along the 31 Days of Halloween and the Cat Lover's Hop today =^-^=
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine walking down the street in Derby at night and spotting that giant spider on the side of a building!!!! Love the paper you found in your stash... ABSOLUTLY love the tag with the girls and their joke. happy 31 DOH!~
ReplyDeleteGreat work today, but I do not like to see spiders that large when I'm shopping - eek!
ReplyDeleteThose spiders would get quiet a girl squeal from me, too! I really love this page so much! The kitty and spider are too cute!
