Just been to Aberdeen...

I have just spent a lovely weekend in Aberdeen - chiefly to attend a Golden Wedding celebration!
The 'bride' and several of the guests used to be my crafty buddies in Abu Dhabi -
so there was a crafty element to the weekend...

Evelyn and George received some beautiful hand-made cards - several boxed 8 by 8's which seem to be the norm these days. In particular this one was gorgeous...

The ribbon was attached curled - I will definitely use this technique in the future!!

On the Saturday morning some of us nipped to The Papeterie which is a large craft shop  in Aberdeen - I added a few items to my stash!! In particular, I am missing my Promarkers as most of them are packed up following our move from Abu Dhabi. So I bought a Christmas collection and two odd ones - mango and coral as they are similar to my favourite 'tequila sunrise'!

My friend noticed a Docrafts Christmas Goody Bag - excellent value - but there was only one - I was very pleased when I found another one back here in St Neots!!

These items should keep me going until I eventually get my stuff out of storage!

At the dinner table there were little boxes for the ladies and a scattering of golden petals - of course at the end of the evening, Stella and I collected these - they are sure to come in useful!!

At the end of the weekend we were invited to Evelyn and George's for a bbq...
Evelyn invited me to use her craft room to make a 'Get Well' card - with a little help from Stella and Lilias.

Firstly I used Evelyn's new e-bosser to cut a Spellbinder flourish!!
We were still on the 'golden' theme - so this is how the card turned out...

Sketch~n~Scrap Card Sketch #10 Challenge!

I do hope you will join me on this challenge!!
If you saw my earlier post, I was very pleased to be invited to be
Sketch~n~Scrap Guest Card Designer this month.
(You will see my submission for Card Sketch #9 here at the beginning of the month.)

Now, half way through the month we move on to...

Here is the sketch
and this is what I made of it...

I am just about to fly up to Aberdeen for a Golden Wedding celebration so I needed a card!
I started with cream cardstock and layered it with a 'golden' pretty paper.
I used a super medallion stamp and embossed it with Versamark and gold embossing powder.
Similarly I made three heart motifs.
These were all layered up using dimensionals and some banners of more 'golden' papers.

I hope that you (and my friends!) like my card and that you will have a go yourself at this Sketch!!

Happy crafting!

Going green

I was thrilled to be invited to be a guest designer for Sketch'n'Scrap Challenge blog!!
I am working on the sketches for September and this is the first one:..

I decided on a very straightforward and simple interpretation...
And chose to 'go green'...
I had a Kanban pack of pretty papers in greens and so cut my various shapes from those...
the basic card is cream as is the square under the green strips. A cream ribbon and sentiment stamped on green completed the picture -

Hope you like it and will join me on Sketch-n-Scrap Challenge #9

Autumn Colours

A couple of years ago I had "my colours done"...
I wasn't really surprised to find I was 'Autumn' - autumnal colours have always been my favourite!
My cards often feature oranges and browns...these ATC's from a while ago show the idea!

Anyway that brings me to September's Just for Fun Challenge
"Autumn Colours"

I decided to use triple stamping for my card - a favourite technique!...
I started with a cream card base and more of the same card to cut 3 squares.
Layering them together I stamped Woodware's 'Going to Seed' in 'Ripe Persimmon' Distress Ink.
I then adhered each square to a slightly larger pretty paper in brown.
After layering them all together I added a scatter of embellishments..

.
Hope you like it and that you will join in this challenge!!
