Catching Up!

I've not managed to do much crafting (or post much) during the last couple of weeks -
we have been travelling and also had my son and his girlfriend staying!

My son Dan was very impressed with my Silver Bullet die cutting machine -
and immediately wanted to see what it could do -
he wanted to try some silhouettes.
He just found some images on the net to practice with...he was very pleased with the results!!

Me...well my last set of ATCs arrived at the UK Swap group.

If you follow my blog you will have already seen these ATCs individually.
I was particularly pleased with the boot - it was a winner in the
Catch the Bug April 'Anything Goes' Challenge!

All I have managed to make recently is a quick ATC...

I made this to illustrate a 'stamping tip' for
the next Inky Moonbeams Club Newsletter.
I used a Get Inky! digi in the centre and a Get Inky! stamp for the bee, with just a little Promarker.

It uses triple stamping - a technique I am very fond of - see here where I wrote a tutorial for PPS Dubai when I was on their DT!

New Challenge for Get Inky!

The new challenge for Get Inky! is to use Die Cuts

Die cutting has always been a favourite technique of mine (using my Big Shot) -
but now I have my Silver Bullet!

Here's my first card:

I started with a brown square card base and added one of my favourite shapes -
Stampin' Up's 'Topnote' cut from cream card on my Big Shot.

I stamped a sun and sentiment from Get Inky! Stamps;
the sun onto some yellow card using Hero Arts soft 'canteloupe' Shadow Ink,
the sentiment directly onto the card base with Versafine.

I then cut a circle round the sun using my Big Shot and a circular nesting die and put it in place.
I added a button and twine to add emphasis to the sun.

Now to the boat...I traced the sailboat digi from Get Inky! onto my Silver Bullet software
and cut it out twice on different coloured papers.
I then added the pieces to my card!

I then realised I had a 'negative' and could make a second card in less than 10 minutes:

My family are all sailors so these cards will come in very handy!

Hope you will join our challenge!

The creation that I would like to share with you - well it's a pair of decorated eggs!

But first I would just like to reminisce about living in Abu Dhabi!
We regularly had Easter celebrations there within the expat community. A couple of years ago this was my creation for the Easter bonnet parade - using papier mache eggs decorated by my American friend Kathy, who I met in Abu Dhabi.
(Look at her blog to see the stunning eggs she has decorated this year!)

Then last year I made this hat with these eggs - These were blown eggs that I painted with Distress Crackle Paint coloured with Distress Ink and adorned with ribbons...

At the party last year I also helped organise an egg decorating competition - great fun, using boiled eggs and sundry provided felt tips and embellishments!

I am sure, however you would like to see what I have made for this blog hop!!

These are blown eggs that I have decorated with Get Inky! digis. These I printed small, cut out and attached to the eggs.

Recipe:
Digi: Chick in Egg - printed 5 times. Chick's egg given extra texture with Texture Medium. Image coloured with Promarkers. Remaining egg coloured with acrylic paint dabbers. Whole egg painted with Crystal effects. Added flower embellishments. Ribbon and beads to hang.
Digi: Side Profile bunny - printed small and attached to egg then given extra texture with Texture Medium. Image coloured with Caramel Promarker. Remaining egg coloured with acrylic paint dabbers. Whole egg painted with Crystal effects. Added flower embellishments. Ribbon to hang.

LOC Midway Reminder Challenge #29:- Limited Runs and Smeared Ink - Anything Goes - Dark themed!

The current challenge at LOC is Anything Goes - Dark Themed,

sponsored by Limited Runs and Smeared Ink

My DT card uses Limited Runs Whootie Owl bonus set.

I wanted to try out gilding flakes techniques on this card.
I started off with a Docrafts Papermania brown square card blank made from recycled paper and matted it with dark brown card from my scrap folders.
I printed the owl digi on another brown card and cut the image down to fit.

I wanted a feather image on the left hand side so I found a Darkroom Door rubber stamp for this. The technique is to make a 'glue pad' using some foam and glue - I used Cosmic Shimmer Flake and Glitter Glue - and then apply this to the stamp.

I then used Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes by applying them to the glue and pressing down. I used a rough sponge to remove the excess.

For the small dots on the right hand owls I used a pen-type Quickie Glue and applied the gilding flakes in a similar manner.

(These techniques are courtesy of a tutorial on Facebook's Mad Crafters Giggles

Final touches to the card are a little Promarker and some liquid pearls for the beaks...

Just For Fun Midway Post

Here is my Midway DT inspiration for the Just For Fun challenge (Easter)

I used the Bugaboo image (PolkaBunny), coloured with Promarkers and with extra fine glitter.

All the various matting and layering papers came from my scraps - I particularly like the spring-like sparkly one that was matted onto the square card base.

My starting point was this sketch and I will link the card to

I will also link it to CHNC Patterned Paper Challenge

Christmas Fun - Midway DT Inspiration

Today we are halfway through the challenge over at Christmas Fun  - a Christmas card for a male!

Here is my inspiration...you too can follow the theme but you can also enter with
 'Christmas Anything Goes!'

I decided I wanted 'Ho Ho Ho' as it's a male card - I used my computer to print the words on red card and then matted them onto green.
I used the red and green card to matt and layer onto a cream card blank,
 cutting ovals with nesting dies.
The Bugaboo image 'chubby santa tree' was also printed onto cream and coloured with Promarkers and embellished with fine glitter.

Inspiration for Get Inky! Challenge!

Just wanted to share my idea for the Easter/Spring Challenge at Get Inky!

Here's my card:

I have used the fabulous Backside Bunny digi and Easter sentiment from Get Inky!
All I did was print the digis on brown card and cut out the paws in pink...
I matted the sentiment on pink and the DP (from my stash).
Just a matter of layering and then adding a flower for the bunny's tail!

Friday Favourites

If you are looking for the Smeared and Smudged Eggy Blog Hop please go here

But it's Friday so I was doing ATCs...

Actually I started doing a very quick little class
showing someone how to decorate and egg -
 here's my example!

I used Fresh Brewed's 'Curious Chick' coloured with Promarkers and stuck to the egg.
I used acrylic paint dabbers to add more colour and then crystal effects.
Finally a gem, a ladybird and the ribbon...

Later I was onto my ATC's -

The same digi with Promarkers, fine glitter and green fluff and a few embellishments.

I am going to link this to Fresh Brewed's April Candy

where the prize is:

My other two ATC's today used Bugaboo images (Cute Butterfly and Spring Boot).
They were coloured with Promarkers and embellished with bits and bobs from my stash.
A second boot was cut out and fixed above the first with dimensionals and painted with crystal effects to give some shine.

'Eggs' traordinary Blog Hop'

April Monthly Member Blog Hop

(If you have reached here by chance,
and you want to start at the beginning, hop back to Black Dragon...
otherwise, take a look, make a comment and hop on!!)

The challenge was to decorate an egg - these eggs are not mine -
I was given them as a present from Poland a couple of years ago.
They are beautifully decorated though -
and how on earth did they do that lacy one with all the holes?

It was bad enough to just blow the eggs that I decorated!

This challenge also required a stamped image -
so I printed some Smeared Ink digis (small), cut them out, and attached them to my eggs.

Here are three finished eggs:

Recipe:

Digi is 'Octopus word'. This was coloured with Promarkers and then sprayed with Distress Reinker Misters in blue and green. Finally a coat of Crystal effects was added. Ribbon, button and beads to hang.
'It's about Time Hourglass' digi - I thought this was sort of appropriate as an 'eggtimer'! This was covered with Distress Crackle paint and then covered with spritzed 'worn lipstick' Distress ink. Ribbon and beads to hang.
'Hallokitty' digi. The whole egg was coloured using an acrylic paint dabber (copper). Ribbon, button and beads to hang.

This is the hop order:

Just a little ATC

To make this ATC I used a digi from Get Inky!
It is the backside of a bunny going down a rabbithole!

I printed the digi on brown card and cut it out - adding pink card ovals to the bunny's paws.
For the background, I used a scrap of  Chocolate Chalet - Sparkle Delight 12 x 12 Paper.

Finally I added a fluffy tail and 'Down the Rabbit hole!'

LOC Midway Reminder - Sassy Studios - ribbon/flowers

The current challenge at LOC is to use ribbon and flowers in your creation!

The Challenge is sponsored by Sassy Studios and I am using 'Jack and Sally Honey'.

I started with a piece of Chocolate Chalet - Sparkle Delight 12 x 12 Paper and decided to make a very simple wiper card (instructions are on my blog here)

I coloured the image with Promarkers and matted it on to some grey card.
The sentiment was from Kris B at Imagine That!
I tied on a piece of ribbon to finish.

Here is the card as it comes out of the envelope:

and here it is open...
