Crafty Hazelnut's Weekly Challenge 527 - Gnomes
a new Christmas Challenge every Saturday!
If you enter you could win a prize... and this week it is...
I decided to use the same stamp, coloured in a similar Christmassy way for today's card.
Recipe:
- Square white card blank.
- Layer of red card.
- Layer of white embossed card.
- Background layer using Distress Oxides in an embossing folder, trimmed and with Black Soot Distress Ink around the edges. Although I have many 'tree' embossing folders, this was a new one when I made this background... I will add this card to NBUS #22
- I stamped my gnome, coloured it with markers and cut it out, adding it to the background.
- I stamped the sentiment(Craftstash stamp set) and cut it into a banner adding faux stitching with a Micron pen. I added this to a red card background and glued it in place.

Leigh SB's 6th Annual Poe Appreciation Day Blog Hop - Roundup
What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday #608
It's Wednesday again - so I am linking this post to the Stamping Ground.
I am in the middle of a journal page which started off as a use-up paint page. I used a Lavinia stencil with dark red paint. I picked this stencil up from a craft shop I hadn't been in before a couple of days ago. I also bought some bargain paint and a Visible Image stamp set Ahead of our Time - not used that yet. I brought this journal through from my messy area to do the sticking of sentiment and images.

Oh, the barnyard is busy in a regular tizzy
This is my make for the DT team of Outlawz
For the month of January our sponsor is: Sherry West Art with a prize of 2 images
The next challenge is to take inspiration from...
The song "Spring, Spring, Spring" from the movie version of "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers". Little trivia is that Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire recorded a duet to this song as well. Below are the lyrics from Johnny Mercer's lovely and romantic song.
And the obvious reason is because of the season
Ma Nature's lyrical, with her yearly miracle
Spring, Spring, Spring.
While their men-folk are scrathin'
To ensure the survival of each brand new arrival.
Each nest is twitterin',
They're all baby-sitterin',
Spring, Spring, Spring.
Every family has plans in view.
Even down in the brook the underwater life
Is forever blowin' bubbles too.
With some spring daisies on it,
Even birds of a feather show their clothes off together.
Gazes down across his eagle beak
And a'fixin' his lady with the legal eye
Screams "suppose we fix the date this week!"
That it's all one supposes
It's a real bed of roses
Waggin' tails, rubbin' noses.
The next is some other's day
When love is King
Note: The theme doesn’t have to be taken literally. You may use any word or phrase out of it for your project.
I started with a creamy shimmery card blank using a mat of pink card.
The sentiment and scribble are from a Stampin Up set Hey Chick, stamped in black Versafine directly onto the image.
You will find this on the Outlawz Sunday Songs and Rhymes Challenge on January 24th.
Happy Crafting!
