WOYWW #890

Follow the link to find out more about What's on Your Work Desk Wednesday and maybe join in... This is my post for WOYWW #890

I haven't got a photo of my desk today as it is nearly 8pm and too dark to take a decent photo.
In any case there is nothing new on it!

I am now up to ICADS number 23 - I have yet to do today
If you want to see more of these they are blogged here

This is my Tiny pieces of Art make.
This month the theme is steampunk and I have done Week 3.
I decoupaged a Gecko Galz image with a layer of clear acrylic on the window.

That is all I have for you this week...hopefully next week I will be able to share more - and that my room is tidier!

Happy crafting - hope to get around you all this week.
Happy WOYWW!

WOYWW #889

Follow the link to find out more about What's on Your Work Desk Wednesday and maybe join in... This is my post for WOYWW #889

Here is my workdesk:

Rather a dumping ground - lots of stuff from op shops and Temu!

I am now up to ICADS number 16.
If you want to see more of these they are blogged here

This is my Tiny pieces of Art make.
This month the theme is steampunk and I have done Week 2 - Steampunk Vintage Ladies.
I used a Gecko Galz image with rub-ons, book paper, sewing thread and a metal key.

Because we have been away the last three weekends I haven't done a lot of crafting. On the way back from Paynesville this weekend however, we called in at the Gippsland art gallery in Sale. There was a new exhibition Gippsland Gothic by Frank Mesaric. I have added a couple of photos:

And there is a permanent exhibition of Annemieke Mein's work (which is amazing!)

Happy crafting - hope to get around you all this week.
Happy WOYWW!

What's on your Work Desk Wednesday #888

Follow the link to find out more about What's on Your Work Desk Wednesday and maybe join in... This is my post for WOYWW #888

Here is my workdesk:

At the front you can see my ICADS to number 8 and that seahorse stamp (Lavinia).
If you want to see more of these they are blogged here

I have also done number 9 - charm:
The background was done with watercolours and a large round brush.

I have also done the last week of May - mushroom madness -
in my Tiny pieces of Art. My mushrooms are cut from an alcohol ink background. the brief was to add a found item (leaf and twigs) and embossing - the background leaves are embossed.

This month the theme is steampunk and I have done Week 1 - clocks and cogs.
I used Stamperia images, drips and splatters of ink and some metal bits.

I don't think I have shared my perpetual calendar recently - this is June 2026

The item I have added is a diamond fold pocket made from 4 pieces of paper. This came from

Sarah mentioned that 8 is a lucky number in China.

So 888 must mean triple luck!!

(Some of you know that numbers are my thing... 887 (last week) is a prime number, 888 however is 2 cubed x 3 x 37 = 8 x 111)

No. 8 in Chinese Culture
Because Eight (Ba in Chinese) has the similar pronunciation with 发 (Fa, meaning wealth or fortune), this number is very welcome among Chinese people. The popularity of 8 was obvious in relation to the Beijing Olympic Games which commenced at exactly eight o’clock eight minutes on the eighth day of the eighth month in 2008. When people choose telephone numbers, mobile numbers, house numbers, car identification numbers and important dates, 8 is usually the first choice.

In modern China, numerical lingo has been very popular especially on the internet. For instance, 518 with the approximate pronunciation with Wo Yao Fa, meaning I want to be very wealthy. 886, with the Chinese pronunciation Ba Ba Liu like bye-bye in English, is frequently used during the instant chat on the internet to say ‘good-bye’ or ‘see you later’.

Lovely to see all your blogs on WOYWW... I hope to get round to everyone this week.
We had a great weekend away at the Celtic Music Festival. This was one of my favourite photos:

What's on your Work Desk Wednesday #887

Here is my workdesk:

At the front you can see a number of cards in progress. The seahorse is a Lavinia stamp.

On the desk easel you can see a journal page using an image from Michelle Grant in 2022. I actually made this page in March 2024.

This image has been provided for a Kickstart Challenge in Michelle's Facebook Group.

I have used this image in a few ways over the years.

Using image transfer:

Using two versions of the image:

Seen through printed vellum:

The other journal page at the top of the easel is a page I made for Conjurer of Dreams this month:

My next long challenge, ICAD,  has started. I started taking part in this is 2021. This photo show my last five years.

This is this year - the first month's themes and the themes for the whole 9 weeks.

I have done the first two days, following the prompts but not the theme. I wonder if you can see what I have used?

Lovely to see all your blogs on WOYWW... I hope to get round to everyone this week. However we were away last weekend and will be this one too - makes it difficult to get online!

Here is my workdesk:

Not a lot to share today - and then I forgot it was Wednesday so I am sharing very late - this comes with being distracted looking after Ollie. He was picked up and then I have no idea what I did!!

I am sharing my next few Tiny pieces of Art - the theme for May is Autumn. Of course we in Australia are heading in to winter!

Of course my next long challenge will be ICAD so these will be a similar format...
Not sure what I will be doing craftwise in the next couple of weeks as we are away both weekends.

Lovely to see all your blogs on WOYWW... I did manage to get round to everyone last week !

What's on your Work Desk Wednesday #885

Follow the link to find out more about What's on Your Work Desk Wednesday and maybe join in... This is my post for WOYWW #885

Here is my workdesk:

What can you see on my work desk that's different?
Well there are a few stamped images, a couple of new stamp sets on the right - and one from Temu on the left!

I was intending sharing my next Tiny pieces of Art but I have yet to photograph any May pieces.

This week I thought I would get my sewing machine out as I had a couple of things in mind. However it was being a pain so I managed some junk journal sewn pockets

and then took to my hand...this is also to add to a junk journal using old jeans pockets to make pockets.

I received an ATC swap today the theme was steampunk chic.

This was mine:

Lovely to see all your blogs on WOYWW... I did manage to get round to everyone last week but I hope I be earlier this week.
