Today I am showing you the Birthday card I made for my grandson.

I started with a Kraft background matted and layered with blue card then silver glitter foam.

The next layer is of Distress Oxide - smooshed and then splattered with water.

I stamped the sentiment on the background and added GrandSon

 cut with a die several times and layered up into a 'chipboard'.

 The top layer was cut from the background to make a sort of hidden word.

Today I am showing you part of my MIxed Media Prompt booklet,

 that I started making at the Crafty Retreat I went to recently with UK Stampers Network

The idea is - when I've lost my mojo I can just flip through

 and remind myself of a technique I could use...

We put the booklets together at the retreat -

 basically lots of gelli plate backgrounds, die cut to shape and bound together. 

Since then I have been adding samples to the pages...

On the left I added texture paste and coloured the image with Promarkers - on the right a 'Brusho' background, a digi print out and colouring with Zig real brush pens.

On the left I added strips of masking tape and added distress ink to the gaps, and then added strips of washi. You may remember me using this on a recent pocket letter.

On the right I used a Stampin' Up owl punch with old book pages and a fineliner.

But to get on to today's challenge:

On the left, I dripped ink splats and stamped splats using a Crafters Companion stamp set - 'Splats and Stains'. I also added a strip, cut using Die-namics 'Dripping Goo Edge'.

 On the right I splattered paint using a toothbrush.

I then used these ideas to make an ATC - toothbrush splatter for the background on top of an orange card base, layers of the stamped splats and dripped ink cut out and distressed around the edges with wild honey. I then added a strip of Dripping Goo die cut and a punched sentiment - the stamp is from Technique Tuesday - 'Get Crafty',  also distressed around the edge.

This is an extra ATC for Day 127 of my 'Year of ATCs?'

Scrapbooking

I recently went on a crafty retreat with UK Stampers Network

...there's another one in June if you are interested...

Anyway I have just made two A5 scrapbook pages to celebrate the two days.

The backgrounds were made using a gelli plate with fineliner doodling around the edges.

On the first day we were shown how to make some faux wood effect paper. 

We made our own texture paste and applied this through stencils.

When this was dry, we added colour with markers - there is a scrap of this to top left of the page.

We were also shown the bleeding tissue technique - the small circles at the top were of the tissue as it was applied to canvasses.

Another technique we used on these canvasses was adding archival ink through stencils.

Small photos of my finished canvasses are featured at the bottom of the page.

During the second day we enjoyed producing many backgrounds using a gelli plate.

We then put together a little booklet which will act as a prompt...to remind us of ideas we might use if we're at a loss...

Really enjoyed the weekend - you have already seen how I have used the faux wood paper since - and you will see more of my little booklet soon...

Left Overs

Last weekend I went on a crafty retreat - had a great time -

when I came back I found I had a few things to use up...

I had used my journal to 'use up' paint from my brayer:

I then had some circles of art tissue - so I used them with the 'bleeding tissue' technique - painting them in place with water. I then just left them to dry.

We had made some 'crackling' texture paste using

1 part cornflour

1/2 part white acrylic paint

1/4 part white PVA glue

I applied this through stencils and allowed to dry.

I then added colour using Spectrum Noir pens.

I then added 'brushed corduroy' distress ink around the edges.

You can see the 'crackle' particularly around the lady's face.

Happy Little Stampers - Mixed Media Challenge - March - Day 66 of a Year of ATCs?

Today I have a journal page to show you - another page in my 'book'!!:

This is the second half of a spread I started the other day.
I started by applying pieces torn from an old yellowing book.

I then used Paper Artsy chalk acrylics 'bora bora' and 'mushroom'

 through a couple of stencils.

I then added distress inks around the edge - wild honey and black soot.

The next step was just to add 3 ATCs that I had made for Day 66 of my 'Year of ATCs?'

Just scraps of gold card matted with pieces from Graphic 45 Typography
and then images from The Octopode Factory
of Alice, the White Rabbit and the Cheshire Cat.

I added these to my page...

And this is what the double page spread looks like:

Journaling...

I had this in mind when we were participating in the

 Edgar Allan Poe Appreciation Day Blog Hop some time ago...

But somehow I haven't touched my journal for ages...

Anyway I opened to a new spread and started applying pieces

 torn from an old yellowing book.

I then added distress inks around the edge - wild honey and black soot.

 This photo gives you an idea of the result:

I then overstamped with black Stazon some old Smeared Ink stamps and then added some diecuts - in particular 'drip drop' (the fabulous Seth Apter die) cut out twice from some Tim Holtz Designer Paper.

 (How I managed to get SALT so prominent I do not know!!)

and the others from black card.

The cat is a Dragons Lair digi printed on orange card and cut out.

I will link this to Dream in Darkness February Challenge...
it seems I have some similar ideas to Kim!!

Starting with a Kraft card base I added a strip of card to which I had added distress ink,

 oranges and browns .

 I tore this into a strip and added blue distress to the edges.

I then added a strip of DP torn into a rough rectangle again with blue distress ink

 around the edges. I added two banners, one stamped with blue Stazon to say

Happy Birthday.
