31 Days of Halloween - LeighSBDesigns Halloween Hop 2025 Day 29

During October you will see many Halloween-y projects on my blog as I am joining in with

Find Leigh's main post here

This is my 12th year in succession of joining in with 31DOH!

As I am in Australia I am 18 hours earlier than Leigh at the moment!!

I usually share a postcard  from Vintage Image Craft
RED DEVILS! This very spooky Halloween postcard was illustrated in 1908 and published by Raphael Tuck & Sons', London. I just love the animated squash goblin, too.

Today I am sharing a journal page. I prepared the page on a loose print og the background image and then adhered it into my grey - paged journal.

I was inspired to do this when my attention was brought to this:

The background image is from Michelle Grant Shadows and Shimmers used first in total then a smaller version in part to the left. I sprayed this with Ancient gloss spray. I used a spider web stencil to add the webs, using an orange neon paint, an Art By Marlene orange marker and black Posca to emphasise. I also added orange acrylic ink drips and orange water colour...

On the right is an image from Michelle Grant Exploring.
My next step was to add white splatter.

I wanted to add spiders lurking in the shadows. I auditioned these flock ones but they would be too thick to close my journal!

I decided to use Tim Holtz spider dies that are definitely lurking - I hope you can see them.

Next I added the sentiment from Michelle Grant Shadows

My last step was to add my raven.  I used the same raven that I had stamped for this Halloween card.
The raven is stamped on the glossy orange card that was the packaging for the spiders above. It actually looks red in the photos but it is orange. It is placed on a second stamped image also from this set of stamps which I think came from Smeared ink years ago (no longer trading)

The background is from Conjurer of Dreams Cracked Orange Background

I will add this card to the
Lost Coast Portal to Creativity 31 Days of Halloween Challenge using rubber stamps.

This is my finished page:

I will add this to Leigh's linky!

And I always like to add the skeletons hopping!

Happy Hopping!!

Here's an adorable HALLOWEEN postcard set circa 1914.

I am sharing a page from my whimsical junk journal.

The pages were originally painted with blue acrylic with leaves stenciled on top with gold. I also drew round the edges in gold.
I then added images from Michelle Grants Reflective Prelude which I thought looked pretty spooky.
I then added stamped images in black archival from graphic 45.

Lost Coast Portal to Creativity also has a 31 Days of Halloween Challenge.  I don't know is this is enough of a focal image but I will link this page there too.

And as always I like to add the skeletons hopping!

Happy Hopping!!

Michelle's Creative Warriors Junk Journal July - Week 2

It has been pretty quiet recently on the Facebook Group with Michelle Grant Designs

but things are have started rolling again.

There is a Junk Journal July Challenge going on...

I have now completed Week 2 using images from Confidence in some cases and this is my round up post.

Day 1

This background is stencilled with brickwork and leaves. I added the various images from Confidence with some of them opening to show flowers. I added penwork to the background leaves.

Photos taken in my light box which seems to give a greenish tinge.

Day 2

I used another page in my whimsical journal, this time using a paper that reminded me of a treetop. The first layers are paint then leaves using my Gelli Plate and a stencil. I added penwork. I then added fussy cut leaves and words from Confidence. The end flips out. This has leaves cut from a Gelli plate pull. I added penwork and more fussy cut leaves. Finally I added the sentiment.

Day 3

The prompts today include Paint Pens, Light Bulb, Pop Art. I was inspired to make this pagein my loose leaf journal. I mainly used the suggested colour scheme but I had to add the pink/purple hair. The idea came from looking at pop art online. I used the image and light bulbs from Confidence. The sentiment is from Reconnecting.

Day 4

For my fourth page I used another page in my looseleaf journal.
I again used the image from 'Confidence', this time pre-coloured. I painted the surrounds with watercolour. I placed this behind vellum and a window (coloured with pastel) from a set by Michelle Grant called 'Girl Next Door'

I added this to the background which is book paper, pastels, inks through a brickwork stencil and drips. I then added the sentiment and leaves die cut using a die and paper from Bee Arty.

Day 5

I was hoping to get Week 2 finished by the end of the month but I still have one more page to do. So much for thinking things would get back to normal after the school holidays! Anyway this is Day 5 of Week 2. The prompts were writing, shadow, bold, reflective and 'The hidden parts of my creativity'. The background includes my handwriting, script stamps in two sizes, script stencils and collage paper. I used an image and sentiment from 'Confidence', a Gelli pull image of leaves, fussy cut. I then used pens and markers to emphasise the images and make a 'shadow'

Day 6

The prompt that stood out was 'ladder' and it made me think of 'snakes and ladders'. I divided my journal page into squares to represent a corner of a board. I added touches of stencilling to each square. I painted a snake but the other images and sentiments came from 'Confidence'.

Michelle's Creative Warriors Junk Journal July - Week 1

It has been pretty quiet recently on the Facebook Group with Michelle Grant Designs

but things are have started rolling again.

There is a Junk Journal July Challenge going on...

So far I have completed Week 1 using images from Reconnecting in some cases.

Day 1
This design was suggested by Dolly in a UKSN Zoom Craft and Chat.
All the images and sentiment are from my MGD scrap drawer.

Day 2
Again I used quote and door image from my MGD scrap drawer.
The background is a combination of water coloured book paper and black and white paper (this was also from my MGD scrap drawer).

Day 3
The background here is a napkin. I used book paper painted blue for the tree and more leaves in green.
I then added penwork. The sentiments are from my drawer.

Day 4
My monochrome is yellow/orange. This is one of my favourite images from Expand.
The sun rays are pieces of Gelli pull.

Day 5
This is part of a whimsical journal which has 4 signatures each with a variety of different shaped pages. With this one I was trying to get the shape of a cloud. I added to this an image and sentiment from Reconnecting. I added more colour to the clouds with water colour crayons. I then added the butterflies alos from Reconnecting, fussy cut and with extra colour from water colours, Finally I added white ink splatter.

Day 6
Just a quick one - this time in a looseleaf journal. I started with the forest scene from Reconnecting, adding watercolour to emphasise certain parts. I added the sentiment at the bottom. Next I added my lady using card, fabric and washi plus the face from Reconnecting. Finally I added more water colour, some stabilo all around the figure and white ink splatter.

Happy Crafting!
