Find inspiration in the song or rhyme:

Christmas by John Betjeman

The bells of waiting Advent ring,
The Tortoise stove is lit again
And lamp-oil light across the night
Has caught the streaks of winter rain
In many a stained-glass window sheen
From Crimson Lake to Hookers Green.

The holly in the windy hedge
And round the Manor House the yew
Will soon be stripped to deck the ledge,
The altar, font and arch and pew,
So that the villagers can say
'The church looks nice' on Christmas Day.

Provincial Public Houses blaze,
Corporation tramcars clang,
On lighted tenements I gaze,
Where paper decorations hang,
And bunting in the red Town Hall
Says 'Merry Christmas to you all'.

And London shops on Christmas Eve
Are strung with silver bells and flowers
As hurrying clerks the City leave
To pigeon-haunted classic towers,
And marbled clouds go scudding by
The many-steepled London sky.

And girls in slacks remember Dad,
And oafish louts remember Mum,
And sleepless children's hearts are glad.
And Christmas-morning bells say 'Come!'
Even to shining ones who dwell
Safe in the Dorchester Hotel.

And is it true,
This most tremendous tale of all,
Seen in a stained-glass window's hue,
A Baby in an ox's stall ?
The Maker of the stars and sea
Become a Child on earth for me ?

And is it true ? For if it is,
No loving fingers tying strings
Around those tissued fripperies,
The sweet and silly Christmas things,
Bath salts and inexpensive scent
And hideous tie so kindly meant,

No love that in a family dwells,
No carolling in frosty air,
Nor all the steeple-shaking bells
Can with this single Truth compare -
That God was man in Palestine
And lives today in Bread and Wine.

I printed this image to make a single layer card and painted it with watercolours - easy peasy!

Gecko Galz Inspirations

This month our Challenge theme is

 "Holly & Ivy"
December 1st to the 29th.
Feel free to grab the badge, and share on your blogs.

There is only one rule, and that is you need to use at least ONE  product from Gecko Galz!!
It can be one of the free products, stamps, collage images, or digital papers!!  It is up to you!!
The winner will receive a $25 Gecko Galz Shopping Spree

My second make for  "Holly & Ivy" is a journal page using mages from the Holly and Ivy sheet.

I started by preparing the background in my grey journal -
inspired by Jen at Hillbilly Scrappin

This involved inks and a stencil, followed by a collage of scraps from my stash - some Gelli plate pulls, papers and an embossed piece.
I then added the images and some embellishments.

Today is also my turn to share the next tag of Christmas:

Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas challenge 572 for 11 December 2021 - quick and easy

A new Christmas Challenge every Saturday!

Today Crafty Hazelnut brings a new weekly Christmas Challenge
with the theme 'Quick and Easy'.

Do pop over and see the fabulous inspiration from my teamies!

If you enter you could win a prize...
Every week a prize is given to a randomly chosen winner...

A simple card today... as it gets closer to Christmas my cards become part of a conveyer belt, making lots of backgrounds, then adding to them. As the cost of postage has become so much more expensive I am also making more smaller, one layer cards with fewer embellishments!
Today I am sharing another of the same!!

Recipe:
  1. This started with a white card blank.
  2. I added a layer of stamping using Cactus Green Stazon - one of my favourite Noolibird stamps - the tree, then the script (Finnabair Messy)
  3. I then added the die cut robins and sentiment (Advent calendar one year).

Happy Crafting!

Color Dare Challenge #474

These are another set of makes for the

Do pop over to the Color Dare Challenge and take a look at my teamies' makes!

This is today's colour scheme

These cards are based on a workshop by Mel Johns during a virtual retreat from
Hillbilly Scrapping. To start I used acrylic paint in the colours of Papaya, Avocado (in the pictures this looks a bit yellow), and Flamingo and then Harbour with a BeeArty stencil.

I then used another stencil and gold paint.

I trimmed this to size adding each piece to a white card blank, matted with black.

I stencilled the figure in black (Stencil from Scrapbookingncraft) six times and cut these out.
I doodled on the backgrounds in black and white and then added the figures and sentiments.

Hope you will join the Color Dare Challenge...
