Because of this hop and the severe restrictions of lockdown in Melbourne, I have been trying to find myself different projects every day just to keep me going!
I am writing this on September 17th - Day 42 of Leigh's hop - but as I am in Australia I may be a little ahead... but here is today's make:
I have made a set of 4 steampunk ATCs.
Because I so enjoyed making the background in Niamh Baly's workshop in the virtual retreat with Hillbilly Scrappin', I thought I would have another go. This was my original journal page made while playing along with Niamh.
To make the ATC background I gesso-ed a piece of mixed media paper and then masked it off with a grid of washi tape. I then added acrylic paint, stamped it with Archival ink in violet and black - using stamps from a set of Steampunk stamps most of which I had never used before - I will link these ATCs to NBUS I then stencilled with purple and white paint and Tim Holtz stencils and finally added some purple and yellow neon paint... I then removed the washi.
I scribbled round each section with silver and black pens.
I then sliced the sheet up with the guillotine into rectangles just smaller than 2.5 by 3.5 inches and matted them on silver card of ATC size.
My next plan was to stamp directly onto these with larger Steampunk stamps from the same set - and some of the smaller ones in the background.
I decided the large stamps were not really visible enough - so I stamped the larger images on white card (which links up with the borders) and cut them out.
Finally I added a few embellishments.
Now I can’t decide what to do today! I was going to have a go at the Scrappy Strip technique, but I do like your technique. Decisions, decisions!
