LOC Challenge #72

Today another challenge starts at Left of Center - Monochrome (or LOC)...

I hope you will join in!

Sponsored by Ike - I was lucky enough to use Christmas Pixie

I like to make Christmas cards throughout the year so that I don't have to go mad around October time - this year I am a bit behind!

I started with a green card base and used the same green to mat the image. This was printed on white and coloured with Promarkers.

The base was matted with another green DP from my stash with a strip of silver starry 'washi' down the side. I added silver stickles and a few gems...

I will link this to

Crafty Hazelnut's Stick it - lots of sticking involved in this!!

Smeared and Smudged Day 3

To what purpose, April, do you return again?
Beauty is not enough.
You can no longer quiet me with the redness
Of little leaves opening stickily.
I know what I know.
The sun is hot on my neck as I observe
The spikes of the crocus.
The smell of the earth is good.
It is apparent that there is no death.
But what does that signify?
Not only under ground are the brains of men
Eaten by maggots.
Life in itself
Is nothing,
An empty cup, a flight of uncarpeted stairs.
It is not enough that yearly, down this hill,
April
Comes like an idiot, babbling and strewing flowers.

Just a few of us this time so I am sure you will be able to call on everyone!

So here's my third tag...quite simple...

I started with a brown card base matted with some purple all distressed with 'seedless preserves'. I used this to also distress my leaves and tree...my idea was that Spring is emerging from the Autumn and Winter.

The leaves are Stampin Up's falling Leaves stamped on scraps of DP.
The tree Is Sissix Bigz Tim Holtz Branch Tree.
I was thinking of using that fabric flower but decided it was too big...

I then added Smeared Ink's Zombie Pin Up Tease printed on lilac and coloured with Markers. Unfortunately the photos seem to have washed out the real colours.

Finally I added eyelet and ribbon, and a few flowers from my stash.

I will link this to the Smudgy Antics April Challenge
So here's my three days' tags: A crafty start to April!

I used my Jester again from All Fools' Day to make an ATC. - just a few scraps of hand made paper from India, some washi and bling.

Just a few of us this time so I am sure you will be able to call on everyone!

This is a three day blog hop that will feature three daily themes:

April 1 Theme: All Fool's Day- Create a project that is foolish or fun.

April 2 Theme: Awaken The Beast- Create a dark spring project that features creatures or animals.

April 3 Theme: Zombie Resurrection...

which leads me nicely to my Birthday on April 4...

I decided to make three tags for this hop...this is my second...

Well I have made my share of cards featuring fluffy bunnies, pastel coloured eggs and little yellow chicks - I was trying for the antithesis of these!

Eggs - ovals cut from 'wrinkle free distressed' watercolour paper (Distress Ink smeared on my work mat, spritzed with water and mopped up by the paper) and then with crackle medium applied...not sure if you can see the cracks...

Bunnies and Chicks ...Grumpy Bunny and Devil Boy coloured with Promarkers and then covered with crackle medium.

My tag base - brown card matted with more 'Wrinkle free Distress' and then covered with some wide webby ribbon.

An eyelet and ribbon and then my motifs...I quite liked it with just the eggs!

That's it - my tag for Day Two - hope you will stop by tomorrow...
I will add this to Smudgy Antics April Challenge

I decided to make three tags for this hop...

Look at this great Jester image in the SLSLines Etsy Store.

A Jester is a professional clown employed to entertain a king or nobleman in the middle ages. Also referred to as a fool, buffoon or clown. The Medieval jesters of the Middle Ages can be compared to the circus clowns of today.

As it is All Fools' Day today I thought I would use this 'fool' on my first tag.

This is also my inspiration for SLSLines which I hope will encourage you to join in the latest Challenge there...

But I am sure you want more details!

I started by preparing the background under the image.
I smeared Distress Inks on an acrylic block and then dripped on alcohol blending solution.
I mopped this up with some watercolour paper.

I also sprayed the result with some perfect pearls misters. I trimmed it to size and distressed the edges and my verse with 'seedless preserves'.

The verse came from Poor Robin's Almanac 1790.
I attached these to two layers of purple card trimmed and distressed as shown.

I added the image, coloured with various markers,
an eyelet and ribbon which echoes the colours in the background.

Launch of a New Collection at Dragons Lair Designs

Today, a new collection will be launched at
and it's absolutely gorgeous!

This is a sneaky peek...

I was lucky enough to have a mini kit to play with -
and today is my niece's Birthday so what better than a little gift packet for her?

The net came as part of the kit - so all I had to do was print it, cut it out, score along the lines, glue the edge and fold it up.
Fortunately I had some suitable ribbon to wrap around it...

Perfect for a little scarf...
