Wicked Wednesday

Just made a quick ATC for the Wicked Wednesday Challenge.
The theme is stripes so I used a page from Joy! Crafts 'Under the Sea' paper pad.
The image is Bugaboo's Friday Freebie from a week or so ago - Monster pocket,
with a bit of paper piecing.
For colour, I used Promarkers, a couple of brads and a googly eye.
The base is a piece of sparkly card from my stash - and I found a bit of twine...

I will link this to
and
Catch The Bug Bingo! - brown, brads and twine

Sketch~N~Scrap September card #2

Today the second card sketch starts for Sketch~N~Scrap!
Why not give it a go?

This is the sketch:

And here's my inspiration:

I started by making my three 'bands' (the sea!)

I tore paper into wavy strips and used  these to mask a piece of white card.
I then used ink to add colour to the spaces.
I added seagreen glitter glue to the top edges.

I trimmed this card and matted it and layered it onto a white card base.

Next I added a boat - a digi from Blue Moon Creations, printed on white card and cut out.

Finally I added words from "The Old Sailor" by A A Milne, across the boat,
and more inside the card.

Here is my final card again:

Farmer John on the farm

A great-nephew has a birthday coming up soon -
so what better than digis from Kris B at Imagine That?

I used the coloured version of Farmer John and a couple of papers from 'On the Farm'.

This is my card...

A white card base matted and layered with the DP and then farmer John fussy cut and mounted on dimensionals, plus gold adhesive letters to spell Happy Birthday!

The design is based on this sketch from Seems a little Sketchy

I will link the card to

A Step in the Darkness!

Very exciting! I have been invited to join the DT of A Step in The Dark!

Today is the start of a new 'Anything Goes" challenge, sponsored by Delicious Darkness

I already had the Bah Humbug digi from Delicious Darkness.
(My middle son decided that the card I made using this earlier this year was his favourite!)

Anyway this is what I made today...as my first INSPIRATION!

Ingredients

Bah Humbug digi coloured using Promarkers.
Matting and layering papers from Lelli-Bot Gothic Grunge
Embellishments from Lelli-Bot Gothic Grunge
Sentiment Printed on Computer.

I know this is a bit alternative but I will also link this to

Quoth the Raven's current challenge is a Tic Tac Toe...
My card fits Raven-Poe-Black - the raven is certainly a link to Edgar Allen Poe...

SNS 'Inspired By' September

Last month my daughter and I went to London to 'see the sights' and watch "War Horse".
It was a lovely day!
First we went to see the wonderful ceramic poppy installation at the Tower of London.

I decided to use my photos from this visit to make my "September Inspired By" layout for SNS
This is the sketch...

And this is my layout...
I added a photo of a real poppy (taken at Ickworth NT property the previous day)

The following element is a copy of a card I made last November using a poppy die-cut.

My tags tell of how poppies have become synonymous with great loss of life in war, following the association with poppies flowering in the Spring of 1915 on the battlefields of  1915 of Belgium, France and Galipoli and include the words of John McCrae's poem

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

Our seeing of "War Horse" later seemed fitting!

Hope you will join us at Sketch N Scrap!

LOC #44: sponsored by Aurora Wings - Tag It!

The new challenge at LOC is sponsored by Aurora Wings with the theme "Tag It!"!
Do hope you will join in!

I made a tag - and firstly made some backgrounds...
These were made by smearing a variety of Distress Inks onto an acrylic block, dropping on some blending solution and then mopping up with card.

I chose a blue-y pink one to mat and layer onto a tag shape.
Using similar coloured Promarkers and matting, I coloured Aurora Wings
Hydrangea Fairy
Finally I added some pink ribbon and floral embellishments...

SNS September Card #1

A new sketch challenge starts at SNS today - We do hope you will join us!!

My card is a little bit different as I turned the sketch upside down...

And my inspiration came from a trip to the Giant's Causeway in Ireland!

It is an amazing place with hexagonal rock formations of basalt.

This is my card:

Ingredients
Ivory card base
Grey corrugated paper
Grey paper with a sparkle, red ribbon and black sequins from Lelli-bot
Sentiment paper from Kaisercraft paper pad.
