Another sketch

I noticed this sketch challenge on 

Digi Sketch Challenge

"Star Gazing"

Funnily enough I had just been looking through my SU stamps and found lots of starry ones...

Taking a cream rectangular card blank, 'landscape', and using the Sizzix die 'Retro Frame'

I came up with this...

The inks I used were Hero Arts 'Brown Bark' and Soft Cantaloupe' - lovely dye inks that are excellent for background stamping and over-stamping as in the frame and tone-on-tone as in the base strip.

The images were stamped on cream cardstock.

The frame and star motifs were mounted on chipboard and then cut out.

To emphasize the stars in the frame I covered them with a small piece of acetate.

A 'star' floral embellishment completes the picture.

Card challenges

Usually when I attempt a sketch challenge, I look through my scraps for papers and inspiration...

Recently I changed my system - instead of a bag for each colour, I now have a filing system.

So far it is working quite well!

Anyway I spotted this sketch on Cards Galore for their

June Challenge

And I made a Christmas card - always useful to add to my store, so it doesn't get hectic in November...

I used stamps from Stampin Up's 'Wondrous Gift', scrap papers and a few gems.

Mojo Monday 297

Today's sketch for the Mojo Monday Challenge #297

is 

This is what I created...

First, I folded some burgundy cardstock to make a card base (about 5 x 7 inches) 

and I added some folded white paper inside for greetings.

I cut a strip of cream cardstock to fit down

 the centre of the card

 and covered this with burgundy patterned vellum -

 I attached this with a little glue and 4 small cream brads.

I then cut another strip of cream card to go across the middle -

 this was backed with scalloped burgundy card.

I then made my stamped motifs - stamping in matching ink, the image from SU's 'Upsy Daisy', and then cutting the images to appropriate shapes and mounting them on burgundy.

This is my card again, sitting on its envelope. I like to stamp my envelopes to match...

Digi Darla

 I was going to use this Camping Chair image for the

 Digi Darla Father's Day Challenge

but I was too late...

So I thought I would make it for the Masculine Challenge...

but when I looked at the blog

 I realised I had missed the date again!!

I like the card though...

This featured image in the next card is
 Digi Darla's Sunbonnet Seamstress -

 I thought I would make a similar easel type of card with it.
 These are different from my usual easels
 which are propped up at the bottom -
 these are tucked under at the top to help them stand up...

I used my Promarkers to colour both images. 

This second card uses paper from a My Girl Paper Pad from American Crafts, the first from my scrap bags.

And I made 'Top 3' and 'Featured card of the Week'!

A few more cards!!

Still working on 'white on white with a dash of black',

 I made this card.

I started off with a card blank that I had edge embossed,

 and decided to use it in 'landscape'.

I punched holes down the side to thread ribbon.

I added die cut shapes in layers.

 The butterflies were tied together with twine and the rosette was topped with a button, also tied with twine.

Then a few rhinestones...

This card I am going to submit to the Catch the Bug Challenge

Moving on to colouring - this is 'Ladybug Friends' - an outline digi by Kris Beach at Imagine That!

I have used pretty papers from my stash to place

 behind the image and inside the card.

 I decided to use a circular die to cut the image and place it on a scalloped circle of the same cardstock as the card base.

 I trimmed the card base front to continue the circular shape.

Inside I added another circle of card for a potential message.

The butterflies are from my recent 

embellishment shopping trip to Dubai...

The flower spray on this next card is from the same trip,

 as is the ribbon 'money bag'.

This card started as a tri-fold base with matting of papers from my stash. I used 'Fired Brick' Distress Ink around the 'orange' paper. I used an edge punch down the sides of the lilac paper. The sentiments were from Stampin Up 'Best wishes and more'.

Inside I added a trimmed 'topnote' die cut for a potential message.
