WOYWW 587 - What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday?

It's Wednesday and I am showing you one of my desks again...
linking this post to the Stamping Ground.

Thanks again to those of you who visited last week and thanks for your kind comments!
I hope I managed to visit you - and leave a comment, if rather brief...

Here's my desk picture for WOYWW 587!

This is where early Wednesday morning found me - although the desk was unchanged until I took the photo at twenty past one...
I got up at 6 am so that I could join in with a Zoom meeting, and my crafty friends in the UK, - their Tuesday evening, my Wednesday morning.
Lots of chat and I did do a few stitches of my cabbage!

It was also my Book Club Zoom meeting last night too - AND I had actually finished the book - this is a first since I rejoined this book Club 4 months ago (I used to be in it 15 years or so ago!) The book was The Weekend by Charlotte Wood - has anyone read it?

So...what can you see? Well, amongst other things:

My Cricut poised for "Making",
a lovely sheet of Stampin Up paper (from the Whale Done set),
the carved candlestick that my husband made me this week,

Another view of the candlestick on my old treadle.

one of my favourite places as my computer screen saver (Penmon on Anglesey),
 and my journal.

This week I made a couple of double spreads in my journal - I joined another workshop with The Forget Me Not Kraft Kabin

This is my version of the class using a Tracy Scott stamp set:

I then went on to make my own version using an old photo of me
( I was speaking at a function in Abu Dhabi when this was taken!)

September the 1st was the first day of Spring here in Australia and flowers are blooming everywhere...this is our garden:

However I still think of September being Autumnal
so I made my September calendar like this:

I came across this postcard which explains the seasons and weather -
it certainly is blowing a gale today!

Finally I thought you might be interested in the Phillip Island Little Penguins that are being televised every day at 6pm as they come from the sea to their burrows.

That's all for today - Happy WOYWW!

And... a friend keeps sending me jokes to make me smile - I thought I would share this one with you...

  1. I laughed at the sheepdog joke - a good one for maths teachers too I expect. A lovely candlestick that your husband has created. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #6

  2. Lol at the And Finally!! Did you live in North Wales when you were in the UK? Penmon is rather lovely though I haven't been there for ages. Your crafty bits and pieces are looking great this week, you've got a lot of projects on the go!
    Hugs LLJ 2 xx

    1. We lived in Haverfordwest,South Wales from 1980 to 1984 then Moelfre on Anglesey from 84 to 92. We have visited countless times as well...doing the Menai Straits Regattas every Summer for many years.

  3. Hi Susan. Found myself laughing out loud at the sheepdog!! Love it. Beautiful candlestick. Well done hubby!
    Take care. God bless.

  4. Hi Susan, lots of stuff to see here! Great journal pages, and love the garden photo, so beautiful. Stay safe, have a lovely week, hugs, Shaz #14. X

  5. Good joke LOL!! Will check out that Penguin link, I still remember going to Philip Island for the penguins over 30 years ago - it was a magical evening!! Have a great Wednesday, stay well, stay safe, Cindy #15

  6. We had a caravan on Anglesey for several years so i know Penmon quite well and share your love of the place. Mind you I loved a lot of places on Anglesey - one of my favourite spots.
    love that treadle machine
    Hugs neet 5 xx

  7. It must be difficult for someone brought up on the Northern Hemisphere to think of September as a summer month! Lovely colourful journal spreads! I often think of joining a book club, but I know I would struggle with deadlines. I'm a slow reader - I like to savour the stories. I know people who say they read a book a day - they must be speed reading - whereas if I find a passage I like, I read it several times! Plus, I tend to read long books 500+ pages - the longer the better - so it takes me at least a month to finish a book, sometimes longer. Love your blossoming garden. We still have a couple of months before the garden goes to sleep and I'm looking forward to the autumn colours - I love this time of year! Happy Wednesday! zsuzsa #18

  8. Gosh what a busy day you've had. I love your old sewing machine cabinet. My grandmother had one just like it. Loving the dog funny and the postcard explains the weather very well. It was nice here until about 2.00pm and then it rained and it still is. I need some nice weather tomorrow so that I can trim the dogs, hopefully. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x10x

  9. Your weather postcard Made me smile, but the sheepdog postcard was really funny. happy WOYWW Angela#28

  10. I'm sure I could never get used to the seasons being reversed if I ever moved to Australia, Susan! It seems so odd to be having spring in September! Lovely photos and great journal pages, and what a fun candlestick. Your old sewing machine is great. I've got my grandmother's treadle painted white with a glass top on it for a hall table. The sewing machine disappeared many moons before I got it. I love the sheepdog funny! Brilliant!

Thank you for visiting, and for your kind wishes re my ring - but it's now 5 days and still no sign of it so I think I'm going to have to resign myself to having lost it for good. I am so sad about it. I hope you enjoy the savoury lentil flatbreads if your hubby does make them.

    Happy WOYWW,
    Shoshi x #12

  11. great sheep joke! Your journal pages are fab.. Your garden however, looks gorgeous! thanks for visiting. .Helen #1

  12. How sweet ~ Loved the sheep, the penguins and the wall of blooms. Terrific journal pages too ~ Enjoy

  13. Thanks for the visit, and for sharing all the fun photos. Love the window, I miss that with my set up in lower level. Fun pages too Stay safe and Happy weekend.

  14. So many crafty bits and bobs - lovely! I am going to Anglesey next week for a few days - never been to Penmon so maybe we look it up. xx Jo

    1. Make sure you have a look at Pennon Priory and then drive through to see Penmon Point (small fee) and the lighthouse.

  15. Hi Susan, what a lot of interesting titbits in your post, you have so much going on! Your journal pages look fab, great idea to follow the class and then do it again to put your own spin on the lesson. Zoom book club sounds fun, I keep thinking about starting up a book club now I'm retired, also much easier now we have kindles and such I guess. Love the sheepdog joke! :D Annie C

  16. I havent read the book - what did the Book Club think? Well done on getting it finished..it’s one of the things that makes me hesitate about joining such clubs I must say! Love the candle stick..clever stick your hubby! Sorry!

    1. Quite interesting... We all either gave it 4/5 or 2/5. No middle ground. Loved it or hated it!

  17. Wonderful photos of your journal and your desk. I have a Book Club too and we meet via Zoom. I know it’s not ideal, but it still works. Have a wonderful week. Dorlene #26
