WOYWW 814

It is Wednesday so I am linking to WOYWW at Sarah's craft shed

Follow the link to find out more about What's on Your Work Desk Wednesday and maybe join in... This is my post for WOYWW #814

A busy desk today!
There is a heap of the Christmas cards we have received but as well you can see on the table easel a journal which has the results of the recent class by Niamh Baly in it:

On the desk itself is the first journal page from this year's Wanderlust. I hope I will complete more this year than last!

As you can see my current theme is
New Beginnings!

We have continued to help Sophie get furniture from IKEA, furniture and charity shops. I think she is about sorted now...

This is me testing out her new bed:

We have also been to the tip - there was rather a lot of cardboard to dispose of and there is a limit to how much I can use in the craft room!!

We also had a lot of polystyrene to get rid off. We thought it might be better for the landfill to dissolve it in acetone. Definitely lessens the volume hugely and an interesting experiment but expensive in acetone!

Even though Sophie has been pretty busy moving she has still had time to do some crafting!

Happy WOYWW and HAPPY 2025!

  1. I am glad Sophie is now settled - and crafting! I've never heard of polystyrene being dissolved in acetone to reduce volume for landfill... not sure we'd be able to do that here. Good luck with the new Wanderlust year. I will watch from the sidelines, I didn't sign up. I did watch a re-run of Niamh's class though - love your piece. Happy WOYWW Helen #2

  3. Oh dear. Don't make the mistake of mixing it with petrol or you'll make napalm :D Don't ask... Lovely to have helpful parents nearby. I love your NB class pages too. She was my go-to watch when treadmilling. So inspiring!

    1. Yes acetone is ok... mixing with petrol definitely a no no ... Makes a very flammable mixture! Don't think we will do it again though. Cost too much in acetone.

  8. Lovely journal pages. A interesting start, for potential journeys. Glad Sophie is settled and her bed tested😀.I’d be careful using a lot of acetone as it’s a respiratory irritant.
    Love Sophie’s rabbit.

  10. Hi, Susan! Your journal pages are awesome! It's so rewarding being close by to help your kids along the journey.
We started composting our cardboard. I average five to ten cardboard box deliveries per day from Amazon. The Hubster breaks them down, shreds them and then adds them to the composter. My garden and my house plants have benefitted greatly.

I will have to check out those journaling classes you mentioned. I would love to level up!

  11. Happy New Year! Good on Sophie, in and sorted - what are parents for huh! My word it takes a lot of cardboard doesn't it! Interesting to reduce the polystyrene by volume, it's a swine of a material isnt it. Hope Sophie will be comfy and happy in her new place! Am impressed that you're starting up with Wanderlust again, you seem to have a lot of daily weekly type commitments, gives me the shivers! Particularly love the journal pages and your theme...again, sort of fills me with shivers!!
