LeighSBDesigns 31 DOH Day 28

During October you will see many Halloween-y projects on my blog as I am joining in with

 So let's celebrate Halloween!!

As usual I will add daily retro Halloween postcards from Vintage Image Craft

Ellen H. Clapsaddle strikes again!! Her illustrations for this 1908 postcard set are marvelous.

I like to share something old and something new :
This was a card I made in 2021

I used a black card blank with a first layer of white card with three colours of ink, applied with masking tape. I trimmed this to size and added black soot Distress Ink around the edges.

I then added the bats with black soot through a PaperArtsy stencil PS288I then added the witch. Initially I tried to stamp directly onto the stripes of ink - but it didn't show up. So I stamped it onto white card and cut it out. I decided not to add any colour to it.

Find the witch stamp here Lost Coast Designs Women

Finally I added part of one of Leigh's sentiments, trimmed and added with the black Distress ink.

My new make...

Some time ago I said I was going to intersperse the pages of my Halloween album with poems, each with some link to the illustrations.

This page has some dark nursery rhymes alongside.

In particular the next three pictures show images from Gecko Galz Dark by Nature collage sheet which is a freebie in the current blog hop

I thought this first illustration was appropriate as

Ring a Ring o Roses, or Ring Around the Rosie, may be about the 1665 Great Plague of London: the “rosie” being the malodorous rash that developed on the skin of bubonic plague sufferers, the stench of which then needed concealing with a “pocket full of posies”.

And as always I like to add the skeletons hopping!

Happy Hopping!
