Here's my desk picture for WOYWW 610!
In the utility room (messy area) partway through a Wanderlust journal page - very grungy. You can see a selection of sprays and Gessos in the foreground. I will show you pictures later on... The journal is in my home-made spray box.
It is exactly a year since I had a 'bon voyage' session with my crafty friends in the UK.
Luckily, I can still 'meet' many of these for a craft and chat session via Zoom every other week...
With Valentine's Day coming up I thought I would share a layout from a couple of years ago - when I was still scrappin'!

Three stages - Collage
I used a Lavinia stencil over this as a last step - do you think some penwork would emphasize the leaves?
My sister sent me a box of mementos from my Mum and Dad's house. I will not go into the fact that this box should have been delivered before Christmas but went back to the UK again... Anyway, amongst other things Liz sent me my Mum's knitting. As she had rheumatoid arthritis I used to set her on knitting scarves to help her hands. This was the last one - poignantly left mid-row.
Anyway I am finishing it...
My daughter, Sophie, and I have customarily gone to the first day of the Australian Open. We didn't know if we would be able to this year - but we did - to the Monday evening session in Margaret Court arena. Socially distanced and hand sanitised at every turn, masked when not seated and having taken our own picnic, we saw two good matches...
Finally - we are just starting to eat the peaches from our garden:

ReplyDelete{sigh} the more I see Wanderlust the more I wish I had known about it before signing up for LifeBook. Every project that comes out, I just dread - all those airy fairy goddess faces. SO NOT ME. I haven't done a single class yet, just viewed the previews. Next year I will do Wanderlust for sure, as it is very much more my style. I love your projects and your journal pages so much! and how beautiful is that scarf? It will be like being wrapped up in a hug from her every time you wear it.

Oh wow, how gorgeous is that scarf?! It's a lovely thing to be able to finish off something your mum started, like doing it together, and then carrying her around with you. Although I'm not sure how useful a scarf is for most of the year in Oz?! Definitely hugs all around today, Lisa-Jane #10

ReplyDeleteGorgeous pages - I love the tree against that beautiful teal colour and the Lavinia stencilling is beautiful, I think it's lovely as it is but I know if it was mine I'd probably start inking it with a pen, then immediately regret it! Lovely that the box eventually arrived, it will mean a lot of have the scarf finished to wear I should imagine.

ReplyDeleteSusan, I love your homemade spray station! I need that. I currently use a copy paper box top. It suits the purpose, but I love your station better!! I LOVE your wedding LO page! How special is that! Such a wonderful memory for you to share! ALLLLL of your journal spreads are gorge! So much yummy colors and textures. You are cooking with gas my friend! How fabulous that you get to finish the knitting piece of your mums!! What an amazing treasure to be sure!!! We don't have peaches yet, but it won't be long. ReplyDeleteOh yes you must finish the scarf it does look so cosy; I love your spraying space...I usually go in the garden (poor grass gets re coloured) or use a big box, which works quite well...unless Mr Jinx gets in it and I end up with a multi-coloured cat! Lovely to see that you can still catch up with crafty friends via zoom. I think many of us started our creative experiments through scrapbooks. Well done on seeing the tennis. I found all the tennis antics re quarantine on the news just as amusing.

Argh, parcel post seems to be the bane of everyone’s life at the moment. No matter, you’ve received it now. That scarf will be wonderful and such a fab and useful reminder. I have Mum’s wooden spoons in daily use and they mean more to me than some of the more traditional ‘heirlooms’. Your spray station is amazing, and yep, you’ve totally got your grunge on! Don’t you scrapbook at all now? I know a lot of people who gave up on it when they discovered the breadth of their art with mixed media. Hingis are still closed done here and so was happy to see that The Open was going ahead, even happier to know that you managed a day there, what a lovely change!
ReplyDeleteHi Susan. Oh my - those gorgeous sleeves on your wedding dress - mine were so similar! I was married in 1972. My wedding cake even looked similar! Well done on all those pages you have achieved - and the knitting is lovely - will you finish it? Or will you frame it as a memory of your mum just as it is? Wow - eating your own peaches, straight out of the garden. Glad you had such a good time at the Open. One of my life's unfulfilled dreams is to go to Wimbledon - not that I ever go to London for anything... but a girl can still dream!

I'm late this week getting round everyone as mum is in a nursing home and we had to take her some stuff yesterday as well as going for our vaccine. You have some great journal pages here this week and the beautiful knitting and peaches too...what more could you ask for. Wishing you a very happy belated woyww, Angela x18x

ReplyDeleteThat’s a scarf you will treasure I’m sure. I finished off a cross stitch after my mother died. How wonderful eat your own peaches. The ones they sell over here don’t seem to have a lot of flavour, I am sure yours will taste wonderful with all that Australian sunshine. Angela #12

Oh dear about the peaches, I would love to have birds like that in my garden though. We had a rat in our garden for the second time in 30 years! A council lady came out to deal with it, although I really didn’t like the idea of the rat being poisoned. I asked my husband if we could get a tray and release in the woods, but he said no. I have decided they are in the same category as wasps - something to be got rid of. Have you seen any poisonous snakes or spiders?
