Blog Along With Effy Post 19

Once again Effy is doing a month-long Blog Challenge on Facebook I thought I would share some more 'diary' posts, along with some of the crafty things I have been doing.

I read the following information on Sky News at the beginning of the month:

Melbourne is set to become the unenviable world record holder for most days spent in hard lockdown.

Currently, Melbourne is set to remain in lockdown until the end of October, meaning the Victorian capital will break the world record.

The Argentinian city of Buenos Aires is the current world record holder with a whopping 234 days under hard lockdown.

Melbourne is set to reach 70 per cent first dose vaccinations on September 23 which will mark the city’s 235th day in lockdown.

Other major cities of note with record days in lockdown include London with 207 days, Prague 201, Dakar 169, Paris 161, Baku 152 and La Paz 131.

The current lockdown is the city’s sixth since the beginning of the pandemic and according to Covidlive.com.au, based on seven-day averages, Victoria won’t be 70 per cent double dosed until November 18 and 80 per cent double dosed until December 10.

However as of this week we have had a little easing:

Up to five people can socialise outdoors (excluding dependants), from two households, if every person over 18 years is fully vaccinated.

So yesterday we went on a picnic with Dan and Lizzie and our new grandson. He is now 7 weeks old and we had yet to see him!! We had taken our masks off to eat the picnic...

The distance we can travel has increased from 5k from home to 10k. So today our daughter drove towards us and we drove towards her and we had a picnic where we met! Really the weather hasn't been fit for picnics this weekend - but it was worth wrapping up to see Ollie yesterday and Sophie today! We were in Mordialloc...

I like this painted building:

Not had a lot of time for crafting today - but I did do a quick journal page from one of Carolyn Dube's prompts #playstarterprompt, #alert. The image is from Createful Heart Designs - I hade a copy lying on my desk having made the card in the previous post.

More tomorrow...

  1. I am really happy you got to see your new grandson. It must have been incredibly hard not seeing a new baby for 7 weeks. I hope things continue to ease open.

  5. I am so glad you got to see your grand! Its been a long time for me, I am compromised and with Delta and her not being able to be vaccinated yet, we haven't seen each other. It is the heart break of this pandemic! But at least you got to meet him finally!
