I used Brick Wall Smash and Bumblebee from Kenny K stamps (no longer trading, I believe) putting the images together using computer software. I then printed them and tore them into a rough rectangle. I added colour using Rusty Hinge Distress Ink and Promarkers. The background is wrinkle free distress using three colours of distress ink plus Rusty Hinge around the edges.
The background is a grunge-y one that I made at the end of 2015
I don't suppose I would try this technique on my own - it's the sort of experiment my husband and chemistry teacher daughter like to play with.
The following video will give you an idea of how it's done...basically electricity is passed through a piece of plywood coated with sodium bicarbonate solution to produce burnt figures. The electricity is produced using a microwave transformer.
Here is a triptych that we have hanging on the wall made using this technique:
What a cool technique... I can see why you need a team when doing it. I would to. Great make for the hop! Happy Thursday!
ReplyDeleteLove your calendar page and the cute buzzing bee ๐

Oh my goodness, that's quite a scary technique with all that fire and smoke but what a fun result for your Bee themed calendar page!
ReplyDeleteGreat calendar page and very apt for this hop. I think I would be nervous of using that technique x
ReplyDeleteThese lovely images were made to fit the hop! I LOVE that background of oranges and grunge! The electricity background of the calendar is amazing and no way could I try this as things tend to blow up or at least end up with a ball of fire! but a very interesting process!
ReplyDeleteWow.. interesting experiment wish I am there to look.
