What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday #589

   WOYWW

Is it Wednesday???

I suppose it must be... anyway I am showing you one of my desks again...
linking this post to the Stamping Ground.

Sorry if I didn't manage to call on you last week - first there were the issues with the site - then I got totally involved in the virtual retreat over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Here's my desk picture for WOYWW 589!

Pretty untidy after more than 3 days continuous crafting!
The last project I did involved using Oxides - hence the ink pads, blending tools and stencils.
That white blob is a wrapped looroll for dabbing my brush when I was watercolouring. Fortunately they are not in short supply these days!

The cupboard is open - I was looking for particular stamps from one of my folders - and my shoes are thrown off...

This is what it looks like now - slightly tidier and with a piece of mixed media paper gesso-ed and ready to go...

To go back to my Oxide project - this was the last thing I wanted to do as a follow up from the Virtual retreat.  I was making two backgrounds - same techniques and fossilised amber Distress Oxide on white and black paper.

I really had a good time playing during the virtual retreat - making cards, playing with different paints, making lots of journal pages.
I will share my three favourite pages:

To finish - I am not sure if this will work - I will add a video of pelicans feeding on the water outside our house...

But that's all for today - Happy WOYWW!

  1. Awe Susan, the Pelicans are amazing! Must take some getting used to, having ‘exotic’ for your everyday garden birds!! Loving the results of your online retreat, am a little curious as to quite how untidy and spread out from your cubby you must have got over the whole weekend???? I fear you have discipline that I don’t and so the answer is not very! The first piece you show - is it on a canvas? it looks as if you’ve printed a fabric to me, it’s fab! Lovely that you’ve enjoyed such a creative time, it will feed and inform your stuff for ages now.

    1. I wouldn't dare to show my four surfaces, the floor or my drying platform in the hall - well maybe I could show that...

  2. Morning Susan. Yes, it worked just fine. Imagine having pelicans right outside your house - and I thought how wonderful it is to see little egrets, pink footed geese and curlews!!
You have managed to stay really busy - plenty of lockdown time in your area! - the pages are great, I like the first one the best.
I'm sorry you couldn't visit for your son's 40th - I missed both my daughters' birthdays - but between lockdowns we did all manage to meet for my eldest grand daughter's 19th - but it is looking like my 70th will be pretty much a non-event - plans keep having to change, shrink, move... yes, you get the picture!
Take care of yourself. God bless.

  3. Must be awesome having those birds on your doorstep Susan and i'm happy if the Blue Tit and her family come to visit. Looks like you are very well organised with your crafty corner and cupboard, something always falls out when I open up any of mine. Fabulous journal pages, nice to see a blank gesso'd page ready in waiting.

  4. The one thing on your blog that makes me know that we'd be mates is the fact that your shoes are kicked off, lol!!! It's the first thing I do when I get on the house and I'm barefoot all day, even in winter. It made me smile seeing yours. You have been busy with your desk and I loved the pelicans, they are odd looking birds eh?

i adore your pelican video. When I worked in the Victoria area of London, I used to walk across St James' park just to see the pelicans

  7. Well done on your pelican video - how lovely to have them outside your house.
Well Susan, what you call 'untidy' is what I would be pleased with if my desk looked like that. I call that a nice tidy desk - before picture - and a very tidy desk - the after one,
    Hugs, Neet 12 xx

  11. Loved seeing the pelicans. My father used to have a little rhyme that he would often recite. "The Pelican can hold more in it'e beak than it's belly can" no idea where it came from but he loved it. Loving the cards and layouts too. Sending you a happy woyww hug, Angela x16x

  12. Blogger is being wonky for me today. Your video doesn't show. But how cool to have those big birds so near to watch! Great projects! Do you have to stand to craft? Have a great week!

  14. Hi Susan, pelicans wow - that's great having them on your doorstep! We had lots of birds, an occasional grouse lands in the garden, and the odd owl has been known to fly by, but nothing as spectacular as pelicans! I'm envious of your 3 days virtual retreat! That sounds almost perfect ... absolutely perfect would be a real retreat for 3 days! Have a lovely week, Heather xx #11

  15. Hi Susan, amazing film of the pelicans, lucky you! Great journals and backgrounds. I have found it a bit hard, this past week, keeping up with the challenge because we have been away, but we are home now so hope to get into the crafting room tomorrow x#27

  19. All your projects are amazing, Susan! I'm afraid I can't view the pelicans video, presumably because I'm not on Facebook. Thank you for your comment, and I'm glad you enjoyed your visit this week. As for the dye in the machine, they reassure you on the leaflet accompanying the dye that it causes no problem - as long as you follow the instructions and clean the machine through afterwards by running an empty cycle. I did my weekly wash today and it all came out just fine! It just looks rather alarming at the time, all that red water swirling around in the drum!

    Happy belated WOYWW,
