How does it get around to March??
Just a short post to link to the Stamping Ground today.
Here's my desk picture for WOYWW 613!
That's one of my Gelli plates covered in Gesso and alcohol ink.
I was trying for some ethereal looking backgrounds - I started with blobs of gesso with drips of alcohol ink. Having smeared this around I got rather too 'ethereal'
So I added more ink and eventually got some backgrounds like this:
You might have noticed the residue of a turquoise rainbow on my plate - this is because I had been using paint through stencils to make images on cloth. I will eventually cut these up and use these on journal pages.
This was last week's desk:
Another Tracy Scott workshop...and it became this mandala:
Then just a peek at Week 9 of Wanderlust... sorry Mary Anne!
These were my stages in the latest journal spread. The theme is Serendipity. Certainly there were a few happy accidents in this - the shimmery powders I added at the end didn't look green and purple!
Hoping you are all keeping well...
Oh, I forgot to add (husband) Kevin's latest driftwood makes...
Some great pages there SUsan - love the mandala in particular. Some cool backgrounds too. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #3
ReplyDeletewow, Susan - some fab pages - love the mandala! Helen #5
ReplyDeleteWaaaahhh! {stamping foot, acting petulant} I will enjoy Wanderlust vicariously thru your blog every week. Maybe next year. I have learned not to jump on something too quickly. I think I worried I would miss out on the discount for LifeBook so puller the trigger too soon. Mandala is fab for sure!
ReplyDeleteLove the gel plate play - my alcohol inks are very old and clearly bought when they were all more vintage than bright so I do need to pick up a few more. I don't think there was a purple or a pink when I bought mine LOL! As Julia says, they were mostly TH's 100 shades of wee wee....
WOW! The mandala came out so well - very striking! I've looked up Tracy Scott to see if there's a class suitable for my daughter's birthday. I do love driftwood - there's just something about it isn't there? Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #7
ReplyDeleteMorning Susan. You are certainly not getting bored yet! Busy bee this week. That mandala has taken some work! Goodness. The gelli prints are going to be fun to use all cut up and reshaped. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI think I am somewhat intrigued by you wanderlust page... you put colour on, then completely cover it up... so I suppose (as someone who has never done anything like that) I am mystified....
I love your hubby's candle holders. They are so stylish. Well done to the man.
Take care. God bless.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulously creative post this week, I love your gesso and alcohol ink backgrounds - I would never have thought of mixing AI's with anything, they seem so specialist somehow! But it works wonderfully. Your pages are great and I love the beautiful Mandala - it's quite stunning. It looks as though your hubby is just as talented as you with those beautiful candle holders - they are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good week,

ReplyDeleteWhat lovely work, Susan. I love the ethereal backgrounds, and that mandala is nothing short of magnificent! Your hubby's driftwood candleholders are simply gorgeous - I love anything with wood. So much talent... Thank you for visiting, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! As for the upside down card, once you know you've made a mistake, you can't help noticing it. I could have kicked myself for that one.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW,
Shoshi #21
My daughter used one of my tree embossing folders for her February calendar. She put that in upside down. It made me giggle every time I saw it. But she didn't change it... She said she liked it that way up!!

ReplyDeleteGreat pages - and a lovely Mandala. Thank goodness I am not into them this time around or i would be hooked on making them left, right and centre. Bad enough being hooked to Tracy's Geisha girl. Don;t hang on seeing it for a while yet - cannot get the eyes right.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Neet xx
HI Susan
ReplyDeleteOkay, first off, I didn't know I could use gesso on my Geli! I'm going to have to play with that. I love how your backgrounds turned out. Lovely art page and scrapbook pages! Creative Blessings! Kelly #27
