What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday 624

                  WOYWW

Wednesday again, so I am linking to the Stamping Ground.

And a very special Wednesday it is too - today WOYWW has been going every week for 12 years!

I only joined fairly recently - last June - when lockdowns meant I was tied to my desk.

I had spied on a few desks before this, but not added mine - but now - it's every week!!

~~~
First of all, I would like to join in the 12th Anniversary celebrations and swap some ATCs. I will happily send to the next asterisk in the list, but I would love to send some more...  I am in Australia, though, so let me know if you'd like to swap by emailing me
 susanrenshaw0404@gmail.com
Actually, I had intended sending the ones I already have on my list, out, by now - but you will understand why as you read on. I didn't get round to commenting much this week either. Basically I had my first Covid jab last Wednesday evening and I felt pretty grim afterwards. Then I was booked in for  a virtual retreat from Friday to Sunday which stretched into, well today... And on Saturday afternoon we could go and see the plot of land we have bought ready to build on. Plus this morning was a Biggest Coffee Morning...
 Just all go!!
Here's my desk picture for WOYWW 624!
It's actually my drying area in the hall where all my virtual retreat stuff went...
I thought I would share some of the things I have done over the last three or four days:
It's hard to know where to start!
This was a workshop by Tanya Froud using that Tracy Scott rice paper that I was also using last week - not actually finished that one!!
This next one was a workshop led by Niamh Baly:
Next I have some journal pages following workshops by Mel Johns:
The next two were after workshops with Elisa Ablett.
I definitely need more practice on the next two - watercolours and alcohol ink pictures after Lucy Campaneau.
Oh - this one was after watching Marlene (Art by Marlene) produce a so-fish-sticated journal page!
And this is after many layers of faux encaustic - tutored by Michelle Grant.
I still just had time to do this week's Wanderlust - week 20. This involved fabric and an image transfer...
I started off week 20 feeling pretty dubious - but in the end I was quite pleased with the result!
Image transfer has not worked particularly well for me in the past but this photo turned out quite well. It is of me maybe 25 years ago (when I had a studio photo) and the picture used to be at my Mum and Dad's - It came back to me when the house was cleared so I took a copy...
Because the photo was pretty big I went into two pages of my journal, stapling on one side and stitching to the fabric page.
All my pieces of fabric were upcycled from somewhere. I stained the little yellow hankie with ink. I made a little book to go in the pocket with a cover of a gelli pull with lovely old book pages inside. On one page I added a copy of that doodle I did: 'Do Get On' - something Mum always used to say to us...
Happy WOYWW !!
  3. How wonderful you have seen the plot where you will soon be building your new home. And I was simply amazed at all the workshops you take/took this last week. I adore how diverse your style is and that you can say you made that. You have created beautiful art indeed. Happy 12th Anniversary from # 10.
  9. The virtual retreat sounds lovely but exhausting! You've created about a months' worth of projects there, possibly two months' worth! They all look great! What fun you must have had with them! Congratulations on your plot of land - it will be exciting to see how your house comes along. Happy anniversary! Your ATC is winging its way to you somewhere over the ocean - or it could be still sitting in a sorting office somewhere in the UK, who knows? Have fun, zsuzsa #17 xx
  10. Hi Susan. Happy anniversary. Wow! What a productive week - you have been BUSY! Well done indeed. A plot of land to build your own place. My aunt and uncle moved to Australia in the 1960s with the £10 scheme. They did exactly that - bought a plot of land and built their own house - never moved from it. My uncle still lives there. Their three boys have all married and settled out there. They have loved it.
    Take care. God bless.
So excited to get some post from Australia. Somewhere in the depths of my mind I remember you saying you used to live in Haverfordwest, but can't remember any detail. When did you move away? Yes, we have some stunning scenery in our beautiful county (see my personal Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/iamaliwade/ Ali x #33
  16. Hi Susan, happy 12th Anniversary. Goodness me, you have had a hectic week! Hope you are fully recovered from your vaccination. A plot of land- how exciting! I am assuming you are having house built? That must be wonderful to be able to design and build your own home. Your workshops all look very interesting and colourful. I sadly don't have any workshops to attend, and even if I did, I don't think the results would be anywhere near as stunning! Have a lovely week, Heather xx #20
  19. Oh my word, being able to visit your plot, how exciting. Does that mean that ground breaking may be on the horizon? Makes me giddy for you! You have had an incredibly busy and prolific week!I really bringing up the rear with my comments, so am guessing you’ve got even more done and fine tuned by now. I’d be exhausted. Although I think it helps that the initial springboard idea is provided, somehow that’s the exhausting part for me! Love having your desk and utility pop up, WOYWW wouldn’t be the same without you!
  23. What a visual feast - your art is lovely... Yes - you must do another Mill Hill embroidery - I will always enable folk with those. I just adore them.
    And how exciting, building a house. Are you doing it yourselves, or are you getting a contractor in, or are you buying off-plan?
    Happy WOYWW 624 (bit late getting round!)
