It's Wednesday again - I am very pleased that I managed to get around to all your desks last week - if a little late!. I do love reading all your stories!!
This is my area for 'messy play'!
It is actually in our utility room but that worksurface is perfect for painting and gelli-plating and so on.
You might be able to see my large and small gelli-plates, a box of some of my acrylic paint and some water colour pencils. There is also my spray box - upcycled packaging which once held a scrapbooking album, lined with non-stick mat.
On Saturday I was gelli-plating and I now have a pile of backgrounds and this journal page that I made using mini gel plates. Not sure what I will do with this next!
I finished the Sharon Everett journal page:
and also did one from a Tracy Scott workshop:
We are happy that some of the restrictions have eased - we can now have another household visit us - so daughter Sophie or son Tom and Clare or son Dan and Lizzie - not son Matty and family as they are in Regional Victoria. Some shops have opened today -
we could go to Spotlight (crafty materials) and Bunnings (DIY). I spent 70 dollars in Spotlight in the wink of an eye (and that was with member's discount!)
The canoe had its maiden voyage...
And then today we put up the Halloween bunting in the garden - a bit crumpled from being in the shipping from the UK ! We have always done Halloween as it is my sister's Birthday and we have had many fancy dress parties to celebrate. However when I was a Cub leader in North Wales I always had to do a Festival of Light instead.
Anyway, that's all for today - Have a happy WOYWW!
You’re right, that worktop in the utility is too good to leave to utility stuff! Lovely to see you in action over the gelli plates too! Great job on the journal pages, like the random tile effect very much. Great going with the canoe, and yep, that video answers my question...it’s a two man and you do get involved! Glad you’re able to see a bit of family, makes such a difference doesn’t it.
ReplyDeleteGlad lockdown is easing a little for you Susan. Things are heading in the opposite direction for us I fear. Love the journal pages and the gel printing looks fun. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #4
ReplyDeleteFirst, sorry if I managed to reply to your comment on my blog when I meant to reply to a totally different person. I am top/bottom challenged I think - my blog is quite a mish mash of adding info ABOVE a photo and equally BELOW a photo without saying which I am doing. DOH!
ReplyDeleteMost importantly, I must say your worktop looks very inviting! I wish I had such space. Well, we DO have a smaller but similar space, it's just in a room hubby has claimed for beer brewing and chili growing! Not fair, I stamp my foot and say. But it is really, cause I do already have my bigger space upstairs. I am just being greedy! LOVELY shots of the garden! such a view!
Happy WOYWW!

Blogger ate my first comment! I thought that the canoe video was great, what a fun thing to do. Love the use of the utility area as well, I had no idea that gelli plating was so mucky!

Hi Susan, love the journal pages, especially the Tracy Scott one. Nice shots of your garden, and the bunting.Stay safe, have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #3 X
ReplyDeleteHi Susan. I confess I am having a green eyed jealousy moment... That utility room is fantastic! I use my garage as my utility space - with washing machine, sink, freezer and tall fridge out there - plus all the usual gubbins for a garage. Needless to say, the car has never been in there. Whereabouts did you live in North Wales? I am in Rhos on Sea near Llandudno.
ReplyDeleteI love that double spread - it looks like a quilt design. The other double spread is beautiful. Thought the video was brilliant - all that waiting for the canoe to come back - holding our breath - just in case!!! What a lovely place you live - right by the water's edge. How precious.
Take care. God bless.

Super projects - I'm jealous of you utility room too - that's something we don't have - the previous owners extended the kitchen and did away with the utility room. How cool that you have the water's edge right on your doorstep! Are you going to get a boat too? That would be awesome, but I guess the kayak is better exercise - I used to it as sport competitively as a teen - not very well - I remember dumping the whole team into the water when I wobbled it LOL! Long time ago - they must have forgiven me by now! Happy Halloween! zsuzsa #9
ReplyDeleteI have utility room envy - what a lovely space and lots of light too. your jel plate makes are lovely . Have a great week. Soojay #26
ReplyDeleteThat all looks very neat and tidy, Susan, and I do like your gelli printing and journal pages. I have a very small utility room with a sink and washing machine and a wall cupboard but there wouldn't be room for crafting. I am fortunate enough to have a sink in my studio which is brilliant. Thank you for your visit last week - I'm glad you enjoyed reading my post!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW,

you're lucky to have that big space for gelli printing! Glad that your lockdown rules are changing for the better, the opposite here, sadly! Have a good week Helen #1
ReplyDeleteIt's always good to have a place were you can get dirty. Loving the journal pages and enjoyed the video too. Have a happy and creative woyww, Angela x18x
ReplyDeleteFestival of Light? I remember a couple of years after we had moved to our current address we saw a long line of people carrying huge lanterns walking on the road above our house - we could see them beyond our garden. I wonder if that is what it was - we never found out. It seemed to happen for two or three years but we haven't seen them since.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely area you have and ideal for Gelli printing. Our utility room would be good to use, if I could stand to do it for a while, but at the moment it is the area where we cleanse goods coming in the post or from a delivery. Such a lot of precautions for Covid - especially as we are in the top tier and having to almost isolate.
Enjoy your crafting and visitors.
Hugs, Neet 13 xx
Oh my! You are way too neat and tidy! You'd probably faint if you saw my space, especially now.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the canoe cruise although it looked a bit chilly. ?
Stay safe and Happy Wednesday!
Kathryn
How cool to have somewhere to do the messy stuff.

I love your Halloween bunting! I should make some! Great journal pages, I think I might "need" those small gelli plates...it's SO EASY to drop $100 in my local stamp store, I go in there with the thought that I don't need anything and somehow spend $100!So I can certainly empathize! Thanks for your earlier visit, have a great week! Lindart #28
ReplyDeleteIf I could I would have a sink in my craft room too... I do need one as I'm always doing one thing then swopping itover and getting paint everywhere Nice to visit you, have a great week, Happy WOYWW

A late Happy WOYWW. I do like your squares page. Did you use black -ain’t around the squares?
ReplyDeleteThe base pages were painted with black gesso then stamps over printed with black Archival. Then the tiles were added.
DeleteLike many others, I'm envious of your creative space in the utility room - I miss my craft space that I had in France, when I lived there - complete with kitchen sink and mini-oven for "cooking" certain projects.
ReplyDeleteWow, Susan, you’re one prolific crafter, really impressive actually, I had to scroll through two pages of posts to find this 😁 thanks for joining my blog and candy, I’ve reciprocated and joined yours too. Love your work space and the journal page details are simply amazing, best I’ve ever seen, seems sad to leave them in a journal I actually don’t get the journal thing to be honest... I’m a card girl.
ReplyDeleteGlad you’re out of lockdown , we can go to Qld now too.
Thanks for being a blessing, and may God bless you too, especially in these unusual times, a blessing to rest simply in Him! Praying you’re all kept well too!
Hugs, Shaz in Oz.x 😊

I love your journal pages and the gell prints. I haven’t pulled mine out in a long time and it is so fun to play with it. Sorry for the late visit. I hope you had a great week. Dorlene #31
