Blog Along With Effy Post 24

Once again Effy is doing a month-long Blog Challenge on FacebookI thought I would share some more 'diary' posts, along with some of the crafty things I have been doing.

My first picture today is from 4 years ago - I was spending a weekend in Harrogate with some good friends, taking in all the sites including Betty's - and then enjoying a Tim Holtz workshop!!

Today was not a beautiful day - so I helped Kevin with a bit of fibre glassing, nipped to the shops and not a lot else! In fact by the time the afternoon came  it was pouring with rain and blowing a gale. So I wrote a few letters and then took them to the post box.

I have been taking part in a UK ATC swap every month since 2011. This month would be number 113 and the theme was Olympics. I made my set and posted them off - although the subject was not particularly inspiring. These are what I made:

They arrived - and this was the photograph that was taken of them - but somehow they then disappeared! So today I have made another set and posted them off. Now fingers crossed they will arrive fairly quickly!

Apart from that I have made a start on Wanderlust #39 with Kate Crane. I have made a start but I don't have anything to show yet.

On Tuesday Carolyn Dube gave a new 'Playstarterprompt'. Last week it was ALERT and I did this quick little journal page.

I think I shared this one day - this week the prompt is INNOCENT - so I again used my small kraft journal and did this:

Innocent made me think of children so that gave me the idea of making the bubble page. I used paint off my Gelli plate straight onto the journal for the background. The image is a Bee Crafty stamp inspired by Banksy. I then added the white paint through a stencil. While I had my paints out I used my thumb and forefinger to make the robins. This was to make a page that a child might produce.  My great nephew showed me how to do these. Today I added more. The childish looking houses were painted with shimmery water colours (images that I had printed out from Michelle Grant Designs, when I was doing the journal page yesterday.) The background was more white paint through a stencil and I used my finger again to make the balloons.

Happy Crafting!

  1. How lucky to have met Tim! Yes I am in the middle of Kate's lesson now. LOL, it's been months since I did one so thought I should try to get back into it, even if it's just the one.

  2. I always wanted to go to AFTH and do a workshop but the drive always put me off, it would have been lovely and just think - we might have met! That is amazing that you have been doing a monthly swap for 10 years! Love your olympic ATCs and those stamps! Those little robins are so clever too! And like Angela it's been a few months since I did WL so I too need to get back in the game. Elle xx

  4. Oh those little robins stole my heart! they would make adorable Christmas cards. I loved that you walked to post your mail. And Betty's at Harrogate. A tea or cake shop if i remember correctly? We always had to go there when we went on a trip to Harrogate. Love this peek into your day and memories. <3
