If you have been following my blog you will have seen that recently I have been doing lots of mixed media.

This week I joined the Art Journal Challenge on Facebook - Create your First Art Journal in only 5 days. Well it's not my first Art Journal but it is certainly the first one that I have made like this in 5 days.

I have spent a lot of time in my craft room!

Anyway Day 1 was a lot about prep work - preparing pages with gesso and allowing them to dry for subsequent days.

But we did virtually finish two tags...

Having added lots of distress ink to two tags, I used a Visible Image stamp, Archival ink and my stamping platform to stamp then heat emboss the image.

I made two tags because I wanted to see the difference the same colours appeared on a white and a kraft tag. You can see I have also added more distress ink through stencils.

The next step was completed on Day 2 and it was to make a background for each tag to sit on using more distress, stamps and die cuts.

 

I attached the tags with paper clips.

On the first page I used Tim Holtz BigZ die of cogs, in the second the Tim Holtz clock.

You can see how shiny the embossed sentiment looks on the right hand tag.
